LVG just came out with a corker on SSN,a professional fall.

I wouldn't mind a run at Ms Barrymore. Today from everything apart frkm from a defensive sense made even Laudrup's death throes look good. But we got a point so I dont care.

The game at Blackburn a couple of years ago was the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen. Edit: F*ck me - dailew's had a Babycham. [Post edited 27 Sep 2014 17:28]

I was at that game, he was awful and sent Taylor off for two yellows, with the first just for rolling a ball down his back!?. He's awful, and is worse than Webb and Ellary. As for the game, acceptable point seeing we were down to 10 thanks to rubbish reffing, while We didn't play Wilf in the first half, which made us lose out in the final third, hence no shots on target in that half. Sunderland last season away is my previous away game, might stick to home games and only go to one away game per season.

The Official Sunderland v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 17:22 - Sep 27 by Spratty | Yep but there were 11 / 10 players on the field today not just the goalie |
Yes, but thought the question was why we would have lost that last year and got a point this. I think last year we would have conceded in the last 10 minutes because of the goalkeeper difference.

The Official Sunderland v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 17:27 - Sep 27 by Zut_Alors | It starts with the keeper and he was great today. I don't think Ash or Fernandez had particularly good games. |
He was great, but to say we would have lost it last season. There are 11/10 players on the pitch and they all need to be compared against todays performance for those that want to make negative points like that. For those that love to criticise our past achievements and harp on about the past rather that appreciate what we are currently achieving. Then we need to look how the whole game would have gone and how we actually fared against them last season!

but it was a very specific point being made - I didn't think it related to the whole performance as such? I certainly wasn't relating my points re Fabianski to anything other than a specific point which is that with Vorm last season, we would have conceded in the last 10 under all those high balls? It wasn't meant even slightly as a judgment of overall team performance.

Why Vorm is being re-written in the manner you describe, I don't know. Nowhere near as bad as 'costing us games' Some people thought Fabianski was coming here to give him competition for his place.

Think it was Joe Allen who was sent off and the second yellow was for kicking the ball away about five yards from the free kick. The kicked the bejesus out of us that day and hardly conceded a free kick. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Some people were wrong. He was always going to be number 1. Especially as poor as Vorm was last year.

In my opinion, and you obviously disagree, he was awful for a lot of last season and definitely cost us points. Don't need to look back any further than his last home game against Southampton, where he cost us the point at the end. Brilliant first season and until injury - never recovered and lost his ability to even go for stuff at the end. I didn't think for a moment Fabianski was signed for anything other than 1st choice - I don't think he would have come to us otherwise. the fact that he alo lost his international place and can't get a look in at Spurs suggests that I'm not the only one who thinks like that.

How very dare you suggest that my assertion that we'd have lost that game comfortably last year was an obvious attempt to bait some people into their typical response. I am outraged.

The Official Sunderland v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 16:56 - Sep 27 by Catullus | Rangel's second yellow was harsh. Our midfield was quite poor today. We didn't create much. And with all that, yes a good, hard earned point. Bony took a couple of chances trying to run the ball from deep though!! And Montero didn't run at the full back like I hoped. But you can't have it all. Looks like Jazz is starting against Newcastle. |
agree re midfield - we lacked a little fizz - can we get Joey on loan ??

Why they are on a par with him now, Rangel is not the player he once was since he`s lost some of his pace.

The Official Sunderland v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 16:57 - Sep 27 by Zut_Alors | Disagree. I think he's been excellent this season. Can't understand what wrong for him today, just very silly. Although he picks up a lot of yellows, his discipline is usually strong. Chance for Jazz now to show us what he's got. |
Come on now, let's not just victimize Chico for daft aendings off. Rangel first booking was for throwing the ball away FFS

The Official Sunderland v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 17:03 - Sep 27 by Zut_Alors | Agree. I'm a big fan, Perch. There was a point he dived for a ball and I grimaced thinking the winger was gonna crack him with a boot to the face. Sign of a top keeper that, putting body on the line. Vorm looked as though he was saving himself for the World Cup. [Post edited 27 Sep 2014 17:04]
