Not really my cup of tea. Bit naff, too highly-strung am-dram warbly hysterical pour moi.
Wow she was sexy though - a john thomas raising fantasy figure for sure back in one's adolescense - just like many another teenage boy in the late seventies.
(BTW loved The Dear Leader's description of Rihanna in another thread ; '"looks in need of a wash to me".)
100,000 tickets sold out in 15 minutes Anyone on here lucky enough to secure a ticket?
She's an ultra sweet and lovely,munchkin-voiced,fit beautiful 21 year old in this ace rare 1979 Nationwide documentary:
Won't be looking as lush as this though will she?

Yep I've got a ticket for a couple of weeks time. Too young to go by myself the last time she toured and my dad wouldn't take me. Been waiting 35 years for the chance to see her live.

A mate of mine is going - I am envious for sure. Still looking out for any late release tickets as i think it will be a decent show. To hear 'And Dream of Sheep' live would be something else.

I first heard her listening to the Nicky Horne show on Capital Radio back in '78. I thought WTF is that! But it was a period of great changes and challenges in popular and rock music at the time and being a bit different was the in thing, so gradually her music slowly grew on me, although I was never a real fan, just an admirer. She was a stunning girl though even if you didn't like her music. I watched the documentary on her on BBC4 which was interesting. If it hadn't been for Pink Floyds Dave Gilmore, she might never have got the break she needed.
I can't imagine what she'd be like performing now. Her last two albums were pretty low key, not bad, but nothing like her earliest offerings from the late 70's or early 80's. Can she hit those high notes anymore or make those saucy moves without embarrassing or humiliating herself. That will remain to be seen. Strange that she has left it so long to tour again, if you can call her collection of gigs at Hammersmith a tour. Enjoy if you're going.
There aint half been some clever bastards.

I was at the festival hall one night watching a dave gilmour solo gig, she came out and sung comfortable numb with him, didn't know the connection prior to that night.
My mum worked for EMI when her first album came out and they held a pre-launch party for her. Apparently she turned up by herself (she would of been around 16 at the time), wandered round the party and no one new who she was and security guards tried to escort her out until Dave Gilmour turned up and chewed them out for not knowing who their new star was.

There was a good article in the Telegraph the other week, about her first tour, which was before anyone knew her at all. She did actually do the pub circuit for a while, including the Target in Greenford:

Yeah,we used to bump into her in the Sarf London pubs when she was just a shrub. Her later boyfriend and bassist Del Palmer used to come into the (now legendary)Underhill Rehearsal Studios.....where David Bowie wrote most of the Ziggy Stardust material.Didn't quite like all the artistic posing in her act but her mum was a dancer I believe.

Yes, she was the singer in her brother's covers band, imagine that! They got her to sing because they figured they would get more gigs with a beautiful girl singing!

Well this does make me feel old. Saw her at the same venue in 1979. I remember it being just after the season had ended - we'd been relegated so I was in a foul mood (so some things don't change - still down from Sunday). Anyway, it was a quite astonishing show, a real spectacle of music, dance, special effects etc. Ticket cost £4.00 which I bought at the box office!! My tastes have since changed a bit but there's no doubting that she's a unique talent who has been never afraid to do her own thing.

As a hormonal 15 year old back in 78, your objects of lust were either Kate Bush or Debbie Harry, and nothing wrong with either. But Kate Bush was really only a few years older than us schoolkids, and some of her songs were written when she was our age or younger.
I remember walking round the room in 2001 with my oldest child, then a few months old, playing "Kick Inside" to calm her down. It hit me that not only was it one of the few records from my teens that I still regularly played, but that I'd sort of grown up since that record came out; when the same amount of time had passed again my daughter would be grown up too and I'd be verging on retirement. It is pretty naive stuff, naff and am-dram if you like, but its honest teenage naivete from a teenager, not someone pretending to be one to sell stuff to kids, and it takes me back. Meanwhile her later stuff has matured as she has. At 5 years older than me she has gone through the same stages of life as me just a few years ahead, just about in time for her to get a record out. I played This Woman's Work at my wife's funeral because it summed the thing up to me; Moments of Pleasure is pretty accurate on how it feels when you start totting up the people you have lost from your life.
PS re the OP, from what I've seen of her rare public appearances I think she kept her looks well into her 40s but I think you will now see a 56 year old who has had a child; and quite right too. It was never really about the looks with kate Bush.
