How you doing Max
What you looking at?
Forget 26" wheels old news now, being fazed out

If you want easy riding for distance get a 29er

650b are new options , these are 27,5" wheels and offer best of both worlds

Yep, been mountain biking for some time now, and it's a great hobby especially with such great trail centres around here.

Sadly, I can't offer much advice because i still know hardly anything about actual bikes!

Yeah, 29'er's way forward it seems, l've a 26 now Specialised hardrock, but looking at the Voodoo Bizango and the new Boardman pro, also the Cannondale flash alloy 3, they're on offer with Pauls cycles, on a 2012 model, but l think the Boardman might be the better buy.

looking at those the voodoo is an awesome bike for the price ,won lots of awards in its category.
the cannondale looks awesome!!!
but for some reason the boardman would be the one for me,looks more solid and has good componentry and the best reviews off people who have bought it.
im no expert mind!!!!
I usually buy my bikes 2nd hand to be honest, get some cracking deals but hey its a bit of a gamble!

I've a Conondale HT CAAD4 series from about 1999 still going strong with mostly stock components, if that's any help. It's been bullet proof and the headshock fork is a fantastic piece of kit giving you a much more connected feel (but hard to find anywhere to service it round here). I'm assuming the flash comes with 'normal' front forks though? Would still be solid. Boardman have a good reputation, so would also be good. Comes down to fit and personal preference in the end. I don't think anyone would go wrong with either.

The other option new is to look at mail order, from a company like Canyon. I bought a full sus Canyon a couple of years ago and the spec for the money is fantastic. It's comfy and eats up the trail centres round here, but not as quick cross-country as my Cannondale.

Hi -- Try looking at a website called " PEDALON" , yesterday I went and picked up a Giant Trance 27.5 2 its a Full SUS bike with great reviews . This bike is the same price where ever you buy it , but this firm gives you freebies or PODIUM points . I basically had £478 worth of free equipment with my bike . Well worth the 2.5 hour journey me thinks

Swansea till !!!!!!!

I really fancy the Boardman, but its a 20 speed whereas the Cannondale is a 30 speed, what difference that makes I don't now, Im wondering how well it will pull compared to the Cannondale on the climbs and flat.

I bought a voodoo bike from Halfords last year paid £349 for it and excellent value for money. I suppose it depends what you want out of a bike, but if you are like me and just want to go for a ride to get some exercise, then the voodoo is ideal.

Yep, they're quality bikes for the money, the components are great, but its stuff like the head stock that you got to be carefull of, the fire roads I use take their toll, my old Specialised as taken a right hammering, got a few leaks on fork seals, but that was a cheap bike though, just a stock specialised hardrock with V brakes, heavy bloody thing too, my mate is getting the Boardman through the Cycle to work scheme, jammy git

Boardman will probably have better kit, but cannondale will be better made

All depends on budget

Also check out canyon.com for best kit at price range, they cut the middle man out buying direct
