Rooney Off To Play Soccer

After his unsuccessful trial at Huddersfield Town and snubs from other League clubs, John Rooney has jetted across the Atlantic to try and get a contract with the Seatle Sounders.

Young Rooney had been offered a new contract by the Silkmen at the end of last season as Gary Simpson wanted him to stay on at the Moss Rose.  But for one reason or another he now finds himself training with the likes of Brad Evans, Taylor Graham (Do I not like that) and Kasey Keller.

Are Seatle just giving him a trial because of his Surname?  Looking around the MLS website's most of the headlines are "Seatle trial Wayne Rooney's brother".  Say's it all really.

Seatle fans aren't too sure either....

"The guy could suck for all we know"

"So, wait, we found him, invited him to a country, and can't even sign him?"

Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid talked to the Seatle Times on Rooney's arrival and said "Who's he? (laughs) He's here for us to have a look at him.  He's on trial, we want to see where he's at and what he's like as a player."

"He's a player that was brought to our attention and so it seemed like this was a good week because we have a week of training to be able to look at him, and some other guys as well."

TheSilkWeb.com wish him luck over there and maybe, just maybe he might get a place on the Seatle Sounders roster.
