A cracker of a game at the Walkers Stadium tonight as Macclesfield Town lost out in a seven goal thriller. Goals from Nat Brown, Vinny Mukendi and Colin Daniel were not enough as Championship side Leicester proved too strong.
Gary Simpson made two changes to the side that drew with Stevenage at the weekend. In came Hamza Bencherif for Izak Reid and Colin Daniel replaced Sam Wedgbury in midfield.
Macc started the game the brightest and their efforts paid off on 15 minutes when Matthew Hamshaw put in a wonderful cross for Nat Brown to loop a header over Logan in the Leicester net.
The lead didn't last long though as the Championship side woke up and drew level on the half hour through Robbie Neilsen. It was 2-1 just after the break when Matty Fryatt showed good skill to fire home past Veiga.
Fryatt then added another 10 minutes later but Macc didn't sit back. They seem to have this never say die atitude at the moment and it was 3-2 on the hour when substitute Vinny Mukendi fired home from 10 yards.
The home side regained their two goal advantage on 70 minutes through Richie Wellens.
Macc made it 4-3 with just seven minutes to go and this set up a grandstand finale.
But it wasnt to be. The Silkmen's Carling Cup campaign maybe over but our heads are held high.
