Turns out JWP is not as versatile as the manager hoped as he was invisible for the entire first half in his exciting more advanced role. Adams is always going to kill any hope of scoring so why he gets picked is an utter mystery. Shows really that the manager is not able to discern who are the best players. A bit worrying.

Really disappointing after the last few results, don’t know what to say really l still think Dialla is a liability in defensive midfield and would prefer someone else.We will need to do a lot better Tuesday to get any kind of a result.Thought Lyanco was immense and at least gives 100 % every time, but it’s a team sport and everyone has to be up for it,the effort has got better but needs more consistency. Not time to panic just yet but we need to start picking up some points at home for sure. COYR.

Sorry Ian. What I meant to say was we played very well today, someone must have made a mistake with the possession stats of 28% in the first half. The manager did well to pick such a good team and was only giving a run out to five subs that he had to make to chase the game. JWP underplayed in his new role to avoid showboating accusations as he has been in sparkling form lately. Looking forward to watching more PL matches as Saints FC are making councellors available for silly dreamers like me who fcucking hate fcucking losing all the fcucking time!

Is that better for you Ian?

i_would, the only time we hear from you is when we lose, everybody knows we are a poor team, but your mindless comments mainly concerning Ward Prowse are very boring and a bit disturbing, I remember your answer to our midfield issues was to play Diallo instead of Ward Prowse, so not really sure if you have any understanding of what you are watching.

In your opinion Ian.

Let's cut down on the competitive interactions, why don't you message everyone with comments that they should make and then we can all paste them in. Win win.

Good to see the match reports have started in their usual helpful fashion! We didnt play that badly and certainly deserved a draw. Referee was awful not just the VAR but the 3 yellows he failed to give in first 20 mins which allowed the Villa midfield to keep up the niggly fouls. Shape was good but is set to not concede and was very unambitious. Very disappointing to give another goal away to set piece header. There is plenty to work with but they have to get on with it. Bazunu, CC, Salisu and particularly Diallo need to learn to pass to their own players. Much as AA tries he is simply not good enough, likewise Adams. We also need to keep Lavia on for longer than an hour. We did rally when the subs came on but lost hold of midfield.

Pretty dull first half for both sides. I thought we played well enough for a draw against supposedly a form team in the premiership. At times we looked good, at times mistakes crept in.

I can't see that our goal was disallowed by VAR due to a 'clear and obvious error', it was a soft challenge in the box and the Villa player should really have been done for simulation.

We weren't going to win every game between now and the end of the season, so just need to forget and move on.

Worst example of a referee I have seen since Mike Dean wanted to make an example of us at Man Utd a couple of years ago.

I’m not just referring to the disallowed goal , “clear and obvious error”??? But every physical challenge against a Villa player resulted in a free kick for them (for a big lad Konsa goes down so easy) and yet they were allowed to get away with most things.

Don’t get me wrong Saints performance was not the best but it matched Villa’s. Goals are so important and had our goal stood I fancy that we could and should have deserved at least got a point if not all 3.

I’m not sold on Diallo. He works so hard off the ball but with the ball at his feet he is a liability and regularly puts the team in trouble we loose passes. Could we have AMN in with Lavia?

Overall positive on the effort and endeavour off the ball, disappointed by the lack of quality with the ball, and robbed by the officials.

It's rare that we get to say the following kind of thing, so I'm going to take the opportunity: We were robbed of a point today by the officials.
