SaintBrock added 13:09 - Sep 30 If we accept that of the 38 league games we must play, 12 are unwinnable, that leaves 26 games from which we can get points and a maximum of 78. To be certain of escaping relegation we need 40, in other words we need to collect 1.538 pts per game from the games where we have chance of getting points. We have now played 7 of which one was unwinnable, leaving 6 so we should have had 9.23 pts or 9 pts to be certain to avoid the drop. We have 5! If this isn't a crises, then what is? It will take more than one win to get us back on track. SaintPaulVW added 14:02 - Sep 30 The centerbacks are still a problem area. Vestergaard goes to ground too easily, Hoedt, who can make a cracking pass is also prone to errors just like Yoshida. So far, I see no step up in quality from Yoshi and Stephens at CB. If this is the future pairing that Nick is hoping then we have a problem. Not too sure what Romeu has done wrong but I'd start playing him to give a bit more cover and hopefully build a bit of confidence. Not sure Lemina or Ely are doing enough to earn a regular place at the moment. Attack wise, contrast the first Wolves goal with our stuttering efforts anywhere near goal. Redmond is better at driving forward at goal this year but seems to lose confidence when he gets there. Our players seem to need too many extra touches to get a shot on target. I'm not despondent yet but I'm not seeing too much different from last year although it does look better. underweststand added 15:52 - Oct 1 Took the game to Wolves after their initial 10 minute charge , we looked good (at times) but it didn't get a result as happened in Palace game. MH has still not found the right combination for the backline...but the strikers are the same bunch (on or off the bench) but none of them scored - yet again. we must move on. NEXT PLEASE...Oh No that's Chelsea! Geoff78 added 20:01 - Oct 6 Wells worked hard up front, but midfield too often unable to stop or slow Derby attacks. Fortunately Derby weren't that good. Not sure about Cameron in spite of the goal and don't understand why Hemed gets the nod ahead of Smith. Referee poor and regularly conned by Derby nudges and falling over. But tricky game for Rs who came through pretty well. I_would added 16:33 - Oct 7 SaintPaulVW added 17:23 - Oct 7 There were patches where we looked okay. We had 3 good chances. That attacking move in the second half summed us though, we get a break, the ball isn't passed to the attacking player running forward into space but gets taken on and finds Lemina. Who then fails to cross it in passes it back eventually into our own half. The attack fizzles out. Are we a side that counterattacks at pace or one that tries to dominate possession? Not convinced you can be both. Usual defensive howlers, not convinced we have the CB personnel to say that any 2 are better than the other 3. Redmond looks good but fades still. Lemina has so much skill but doesn't seem to do very much that is effective. Can't expect Ings to score every game and we can't defend a one-nil anyway. Prettier than last year but we are heading for the same trouble unless we can start getting some points on the board. mattthelegend added 17:42 - Oct 7 Feel sorry for Bednarek who I though had a decent game, sloppy play by PEH led to the first goal , when we should ah e been 1 nil up! Didn’t really see what happened on the second goal. 3rd goal all a bit irrelevant. Looked good in patches especially after first 20 minutes when we were so negative, once we started pressing we grew into the game until sloppy play by PEH. Always felt Chelsea were playing with us and if we had scored would have upped the anti, still we were playing a very good Chelsea/Hazard team. Hopefully 3 teams worse than us. helpineedsomebody added 18:03 - Oct 7 NO INVESTMENT SINCE 1885 20 MATCHES WITH THIS MANAGER & WHERE ARE WE GOING JUST AS WELL KEPT THE LAST MANAGER HE NEVER TOLD LIES 1ST HALF FORWARDS ALL DEFENDING PHB LOOSES THE BALL JUST OUTSIDE THE BOX RESULT A GOAL & EVEN BEFORE THE BALL HITS THE NET HE PUTS HIS HAND ON HIS HEAD KNOWING WHAT HE HAS DONE 2ND HALF PUSHES THE SAME PRAT ON THE LEFT WING & THEN PUSHES LIMEY ON THE RIGHT WING LEAVING ORIAL CENTRE MIDFIELD WHO BY THE WAY IS THE ONLY MIDFIELDER WE HAVE THAT CAN PASS THE BALL FORWARD & FINE OUR PLAYERS FOR CHELSEA JUST A TRAINING SESSION ITS AS BAD AS ITS EVER BEEN FACT DPeps added 18:10 - Oct 7 Chelsea are a million times better than us, and the result was never in doubt. There were some positives: - we created chances, and should have scored two goals - Gabbi was effective I suspect there will be the same debates about Hoedt and Redmond. Hoedt looked better than usual, but probably should've had a penalty awarded against him in the first half and, arguably, didn't give PEH the best ball to deal with for Chelsea's first goal. Redmond did his usual thing of running well with the ball, and then failing to make any decision with the pass. NorthernSaint85 added 20:09 - Oct 7
