| News Comment | Willock added to QPR’s attacking rack and stack — Signing at 10:14:47
Is that correct that he must quarantine for fourteen days? If he takes & passes a Covid test, would that not allow him to start training with the club? I certainly gained that impression from the club interview with him. |
| News Comment | One year on - Preview at 19:16:30
Thanks Clive. Another great preview. Although I didn't think that we had a realistic chance of making the play offs when the season restarted, I do believe that the players were not helped by the club stance on when the restart would begin. We went into the Barnsley match with only one side wanting to be playing that day & have found it hard to reset our minds since then. How I want us to give a performance tonight! |
| News Comment | Hugill haunts his hometown, breathing life into QPR's lockdown - Report at 21:48:37
"since QPR were relegated from this division for the only time in the club’s 134-year history" You're forgetting the relegation back to the Third Division South in 1951/52 Clive, which was even before I was born! That doesn't alter the relevance of your report though! |
| News Comment | Nightmare eleven - Column at 21:16:38
" Other reflections could include biggest piss-taker or most manila envelopes accrued over the course of a season. Draw your own conclusions." There is real competition as to who would fill this position! Take your pick from Tommy, Mark or Harold. It shows how much I hate the pair of them that Hughes & Redknapp come close to unseating Docherty! |
| News Comment | QPR finally click, slaughtering hapless Cardiff - Report at 20:00:01
Another great report Clive, but I don't think you can blame television for New Year's Day matches. I think it was 1973 when these started (long before live televised league games) with a 3-0 hammering of Manchester United. I've not checked, but I suspect that Rangers have a better record on NYD than on Boxing Day. Certainly my "senior" memory tells me so! The front four were superb yesterday, as were Amos & Ball. It was also a masterstroke by Warburton to play Cameron & Wallace at full bacl in an attempt to combat a team of giants. After a struggling start & following the Flint header onto the bar, they achieved this with ease. I'm sure we will see a different type of defence for the Brentford & Leeds matches, btu yesterday was "horses for courses". Well done MW! |
| News Comment | QPR made to scrap for a point by rejuvenated Reading - Report at 16:54:37
I have this theory, that I'm sure Pinner will disagree with, that referees don't give penalties for that type of handball as they would have to send the player off. If it was just a caution, I'm sure more would be given! I can even understand this attitude (apart from when we are the team to miss out) as I was guilty of this, or similar, when I had the misfortune to be the ref! Last night was the worst performance I've seen from us this season, but we were far better than many a match last season! |
| News Comment | A Hull of a day for Eze as QPR win away again — Report at 14:47:05
Thanks Clive. I don't care about the clean sheets as long as we keep scoring goals! Although I was p****d off with Hull's second as I had predicted a 3-1 win! I've said it before & I'm sure I will say it again, but this is the most exciting Rangers team I've seen since the Gordon Jago days. I never thought I'd see the likes of those again! |
| News Comment | House of cards - Preview at 14:39:04
Not the easiest read Clive, but quite possibly your best yet! I don't know how, but this article requires a far bigger audience than LFW readers! |
| News Comment | Eze's glorious goal helps QPR stun Stoke - Report at 08:52:58
A result & performance none would expect? Finney expected it as he stated on the podcast! I also referred to Hugill looking like Helgusson upfront for us, but I hadn't considered Holt. I do understand the comparison though. It was a very good drive home! |
| News Comment | Is this thing on? Preview at 16:02:44
Pearson will go EIGHT minutes before receiving a caution? Has the summer break got to you Clive? It must be a fair bit earlier than that! This time tomorrow we will be two in front! I can't wait for it! |
| News Comment | Cameron makes Rangers return, but will it be in the same role? Signing at 20:50:42
We've definitely had a slower defence! I had the "pleasure" of watching Ferdinand, Dunne & Caulker in a back three at Tottenham. Cameron is a centre half & that is where I expect him to play this season. I appear to be in a minority, but by replacing Leistner I see this as a defensive improvement. |
| News Comment | Barbet makes it three for Warburton’s Rangers — Signing at 18:28:09
I'm assuming that you had some knowledge of this transfer Clive as you have posted this so promtly! I'm pleased that the club kept this under the radar for so long. I'm also pleased with our busimess during this transfer window so far. I thought that we required a 'keeper, full back, centre half, midfielder & two forwards this summer. And all for the price of Luke Freeman! Three down & just the three still reauired! |
| News Comment | Spot the difference, QPR annihilated at Norwich - Report at 10:01:33
I wish i could say that I enjoyed reading that report! It was a brilliant true account of what I watched on Sky & the picture of seeing the Norwich players line up to withdraw their cash at Northern Rock had me laughing. The rest had me fuming. Not at Clive, but at what was meant to pass as Queens Park Rangers COMPETING in a game of football! Bircham isn't a bad shout to lead us to the end of the season. Ramsey would also be far preferable than what we had on Saturday. Come to that, any of us would be better! |
| News Comment | Runners and riders - Column at 09:10:43
As I've said on a thread, please can we move away from only considering managers that are currently unemployed! |
| News Comment | QPR plumb new depths in Rotherham debacle - Report at 10:28:04
This morning is the first time I've dared face message boards since that game! I'm prtobably on my own, but I thought we were (very) slightly better than against Stoke. However, Rotherham were far better than Stoke. That has more to say about how i rated Saturday's performance(?) though! I still can't understand why when facing a team of giants, we continually played nearly every ball aerial. Surprise, surprise, Rotherham won all of them! Having just written that paragraph, I asked myself if we were worse against Stoke & I still came up with yes! Pawel to play upfront for anyone? He couldn't be worse than Hemed or Wells playing that role! |
| News Comment | Boredom in its purest form — Report at 10:09:18
I made Gavin Ward the man of the match. I never thought I would read/say anything like that! This was definitely the worst game I've seern this season (away followers may have had worse). Even in the defeats there has been something to watch in the other teams performance. That also applies to the Reading 0-0, in which Reading played some football. Today was two sides full of ineptitude. I can't wait for wednesday night! |
| News Comment | It's been a while - Preview at 10:57:13
Clive, people believe every word you write, so please stop telling then that the Vauxhall Motors side was a works team! That had applied decades before, but their players were very well paid semi professionals, who played in a league three levels below us. Many a time have we lost a cup match to sides three levels below & for me none were worse than the 4-1 battering we took at Peterborough in the League Cup in 1968. That WAS humiliation! |
| News Comment | Stern Pompey test awaits as QPR enter uncharted cup territory - Preview at 10:22:23
I missed the sad news about the death of Hugh Mcilvanney. Certainly one of the best football reporters I've read. RIP Hugh & thank you. A wonderful story to be relayed to us Clive. Wilkinson's teams were awful to watch. I assume Pullis based his tactics on Howard! |
