| Forum Thread | Covid contracts worth Ā£15bn had corruption āred flagsā, at 22:54 11 Sep 2024
An article appeared in a couple of the Nationals this week following an investigation by Transparency International UK The study has uncovered corruption āred flagsā in government Covid contracts worth more than Ā£15bn ā representing nearly one in every three pounds awarded by the government during the pandemic. The review of more than 5,000 contracts across 400 public bodies identified 135 high-risk contracts with a value of Ā£15.3bn where it is claimed an investigation is merited due to the identification of THREE ( not 1 or 2 but 3) or more corruption red flags. At least 28 contracts, worth Ā£4.1bn, went to those with known political connections to the Conservative party. This amounts to almost a tenth of the money spent on the pandemic response. Fifty-one contracts, worth Ā£4bn, went through the āVIP laneā of which 24, worth Ā£1.7bn, were referred by politicians from the Conservative party or their offices. Ā£1bn was spent on personal protective equipment from 25 VIP-lane suppliers that was later deemed unfit for use. Eight contracts, worth Ā£500m, went to suppliers that were no more than 100 days old. The UK government awarded more than Ā£30.7bn in high- value contracts without competition ā equivalent to almost two-thirds of all Covid contracts by value. The Department of Health and Social Care wrote off Ā£14.9bn in public money over a two-year period ā equivalent to the governmentās total spend on personal protective equipment. Starmer should insist on a full investigation with every effort made to address wrong doing. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13827585/More-5-000-contracts-15-billio |

Just how on earth can the government sign this off? Itās a blatant example of another one of our public services going further down the tubes ! Having been criticised for the massive delays in answering the phone or my even answering the phone in many cases the HMRC have taken action and decided to close their telephones for 6 months of the year - itās absolutely scandalous. At a time when more and more people are going to be caught up in the tax system - especially pensioners who are less likely to have on line skills theyāre reducing accessibility. Outrageous. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/mar/19/hmrc-to-close-its-self-assessme |
| Forum Thread | Another MP accused of inappropriate conduct at 23:17 16 Oct 2023
This time is Peter Bone, Conservative MP for Wellingborough who according to the Daily Mail has been accused of a bullying and sexual misconduct campaign. It looks like one of the Commons regulators is proposing a 6 week ban which will be enough to start a recall petition in the constituency. It seems the allegations go back 9 years and were reported to Theresa May back in 2017, but were still unresolved some 4 years later so the complainant decided to reported to the Standards watchdog instead. It also appears the complainants father mentioned the incident to David Cameron who was the PM at the time back in 2015. Iād be interested to now why the Conservative Party hadnāt resolved/reached a conclusion to the investigation after 4 years. [Post edited 16 Oct 2023 23:20]

| Forum Thread | Margaret Ferrier MP -30 day suspension at 15:41 7 Jun 2023
Margaret Ferrier the SNP MP who breached the Covid Regs and traveled home on a train after testing positive has been suspended for 30 days which means her constituents can petition to have a by election. The vote was 185 in favour of the suspension while 40 MPās voted against suspending her which would have meant she was free to carry on as an MP. Of the 40 MPs who voted against Ferrier's suspension 32 were Conservatives, two were DUP, two were Alba and one was Reclaim. Interestingly, the Conservatives who backed her included former ministers David Davis and Jacob Rees-Mogg, and party grandees Sir Bill Cash and Sir Edward Leigh and there is speculation they voted against the suspension in an attempt to set the ground to save Boris from a similar suspension if found guilty. I think itās pretty shocking, sheās broken the law and should be out and Iād expect MPās to have supported that. |

| Forum Thread | Boris Flat Refurb Investigation at 16:17 9 Dec 2021
The Conservative Party have been fined for incorrect record keeping and there is speculation and some suggestion that Boris lied to his Standards Advisor. In May, the PM's independent adviser on standards Lord Geidt cleared Mr Johnson of a conflict of interest over the donation from Lord Brownlow, saying the PM appeared not to be aware of the arrangement with the peer, but Lord Geidt did conclude Mr Johnson had "acted unwisely" by not being more "rigorous" in finding out who paid for the refurbishment. It appears Boris gave evidence to Lord Geidt earlier this year that Boris was unaware of the source of the money until February, however it now looks like Boris sent a Whats App message to Lord Brownlow in the November asking for more money towards the refurb!! Something isnāt right!!!!!!!! Its clear the likes of Boris have nothing but contempt for us and the rules, no wonder he tried to use the Patterson incident to try and undermine and get rid of the Electoral Commission. How can you not know whoās paying for the refurb of the place you live in? Boris is without doubt, the worst PM we have ever had. We need a huge overhaul of our Parliamentary Standards and the effective regulation of politicians. We need meaningful impartial oversight from bodies with real power who have the ability to hold people to account and sanction individuals where necessary. We need a more effective Freedom of Information Act which ensures transparency and facilitates effective oversight and the government plans to introduce legislation to prevent juridical reviews of government decisions should be stopped. Without effective supervision and oversight weāll end up like Zimbabwe and other countries where the people are ruled by the corrupt. Edit Extra detail. [Post edited 10 Dec 2021 23:20]

Government has just paid out Ā£340K to settle Philip Rutnamās claim for unlawful dismissal. Boris had backed her following an investigation re bullying which led to the Standards Chef resigning. Rotten to the core. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56281781 |

He was on licence after serving just over half of a 6year licence after being found with a load of weapons and a pipe bomb, he also has form for a hammer attack on a woman and a knife attack on a woman. He has destroyed this womanās life, he should never have been allowed out in the first place, if heād been kept in this wouldnāt have happened. Scumbag. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-49045505 |
