£6m of that towards the playing squad I think. Presumably wages included in that. |

He has to strike a balance between resting knackered players and not getting humiliated. He’s probably on thin ice as it is. He’ll be wary of a hammering. |

You would want us to freeze one of our best players out when we’ve only got two centre backs? We’re safe from relegation at the moment. We won’t be if we end up playing Christie every game. |

Sure. I think he makes a lot of mistakes and can be too rigid in both his tactics and substitutions. He often doesn’t react when teams change their setup to suit the way the game is playing out. Overall, he has a very limited squad and has done very well to steer us to practical safety. He’s proved he can set us up not to concede and he can set us up to score. He’s really struggled to get both at the same time. I thought we may be in relegation danger in the summer, so did you. If he stays and keeps us up, he will have exceeded both our expectations. However, I don’t like bad apples at the club. While what he did wasn’t as bad as what Whittaker and Obafemi did, they are players, he’s running the show. I want him out based only on that. Your truth? |

I don’t think Grimes will be rested but I think he should be. He’s been off the boil for about a month. Will be a mixture of first team and fringe players. |

There was a lot of talk of that until Luke Williams little episode. I don’t know how accurate it was, but a lot of people were under the impression he was on the verge of signing. Of course, any presentation about the direction the club is heading and what Williams wants to do with the squad is null and void now. We’re probably lucky Cabango signed when he did. |

Hadn’t considered this, but there’s a lot of merit to it. |

This I agree with you on completely. And it’s not just once. He did it a year ago at Notts County, but most of us either didn’t notice or didn’t care because we needed a manager. Hindsight I know, but it’s a complete red flag |

This isn’t the case. Our starting eleven, if we had a decent striker, should be able to compete with all but the very best in the division. In a cup final, I’d fancy us against most teams. Beyond that, we’re as weak as anyone. The likes of Cardiff and Plymouth have deeper squads. Look at our bench any given game. The only time it looks acceptable is when the likes of Key, Franco and Bianchini are on it. I’d be surprised if any other team had the likes of Christie as their third choice centre back. Amazed if they are mid table. With 20 man matchday squads and 5 subs per game, we’re at a disadvantage. I’m not at all surprised we looked completely jaded against Portsmouth and West Brom. I’m sure Luke Williams’ comments didn’t help, but we’ve got a longer term issue that that, compounded over the busy Christmas period. |

He will have better options than Bristol City if he sits his contract out. We will be one of them. Using the Leeds example, he won’t play for them much if they go up. He’ll be Nathan Wood at best. |

Absolutely no way he’s on anything like that. He signed a one year contract in the summer after two years of hardly being fit. We had to get players out to sign Franco and Eom. No chance at all Levein and Kaplan would have given him a contract as one of our top earners. |

Not quite. A lot of people ‘suddenly’ want him out because he’s pimped himself to West Brom. He hasn’t done that without encouragement. Whether they go for him or not, West Brom have seen something they like. Maybe it’s squeezing results out of weak squads with tight budgets. Maybe you could see (slightly) bigger clubs being interested in him and him acting like a tart 6 months ago. It took me by surprise. We had a reset and a footballing enema last season. He gave us the worst start to a season for three decades and got sacked. |

Not at all. I’m not attacking the playing style. It can be a hard watch, but I’ll make allowances when he’s clearly only got a very small group of championship level players. Midfield, you’re absolutely right. |

It’s a results business. The results have been better than they should have given the players he has. Whether the method behind getting those results is frustrating is a secondary consideration. One injury and we’ve got Cyrus Christie at centre back. |

You’re right, there’s a lot of frustration watching us and while he tweaks tactics, he doesn’t change them unless he’s forced into it. Everybody knows how we are going to play. But I keep going back to the state of our squad and the fact we’re nowhere near a relegation battle. By rights we should be in one. Results wise, we’re overachieving regardless of whether it can be a hard watch and how inconsistent we are. I still want him out, but that’s because he’s made it clear he doesn’t want to be here and will dump us the minute he gets a slightly better offer. |
