QPR WANT NORWEGIAN FUTURE STAR According to news outlets in Norway, QPR are interested in signing Tromso striker Lasse Nordas. Lasse is only 22 yet has heavily impressed during his career in Norway so far. He has featured for the Norway U21s on several occasions netting 3. This season, he has 13 goal contributions within 28 games in the Eliteserien. He also netted 2 goals within the UECL qualifiers. Valued at £1.5million, QPR are not the only club interested.
What's that Lasse? Someone's fallen down a well and you haven't scored a goal in 4 games?
His agent will get him a Head & Shoulders commercial by dawn.
I always think of Russell Martin as a Musical Youth manager. "Pass the Dutchie on the left hand side, then pass it again and again and again and again and again..."
In all seriousness though the difference between managers like Martin and Cifuentes is that Martin just wants to play football in a certain way despite the personnel he has and when it doesn't work he just persists relentlessly despite the player's shortcomings. Cifuentes has wanted to play football another way but has learnt that you can't do that if you don't have the personnel. In which case this is season 2 of ditching those ideals and making us hard to beat. At the end of the day you can have all the possession you want and pass everyone to death as Martin tries to do or you can say, okay we're not as good as I imagine we are so we'll just be well organised and as Marti has learn't the phrase this week... grind out results.
Very right footed player being asked to play left back. Willing to play left back when asked. Not brought here to play left back but has stood in when Paal is injured. Not having a great time but this all feels a little harsh. His ability to hit some cross field passes have shown what he can do. Give the kid a break.
Smyth take a bow. That's our goal of the season or any season right there. No idea what the keeper is doing there but incredible pace and composure from Smyth. He very much deserves it. Considering we were under the cosh for so long we almost nicked it.
Padded out at the beginning with the commentators talking about how great Loftus Road is to distract anyone from the lack of first half action. Second half we came out with a lot more purpose. Really love Saito. He's everywhere. Really deserves his first goal.
Mr Modest as ever but really good to hear how he feels this team is gelling and fighting for each other and recognising that they weren't doing that earlier in the season and that it's about graft in this division over pretty football.
Marti. He swallowed his pride, his ideals and went back to simply making us hard to beat and playing to the team's actual ability, like last season. So far it has got us back on track and I agree, we looked totally doomed before the last international break.
I also think that the Morrison/Cook partnership has been important. Morrison is massively impressive and like Cook, seems to read the game a few steps ahead. No coincidence that we've improved so much. Morrison is a big find.
Really like what he says in this interview about the team needing to improve and get better. Interesting that Kolli managed to play 60 minutes but was sick. Says a lot.
