| Your Report | Southampton v Liverpool Your Report added at 17:38:22 McCarthy started so well. He made some great saves, including a near-post rocket, and was well on his way to becoming the man of the match, but then came that quite ridiculous rolled-out clearance. We could have got away with it if our defenders had been a little more awake, including a poor clearance from Downes. In general, we did well against one of the best European sides and it took a great Salah touch and an unlucky penalty award to defeat us. We may well get defeated, but if they try as they did today, they deserve our support. I hope Tall Paul is fit for our remaining games. He grew into his role, and the crowd loved him. |
| Your Report | Brentford v Southampton Your Report added at 20:21:22 Messing around at the back is not going to create chances at the other end, it is nonsense to play like we have and expect it to work for us, even poor sides can suss out this tactic. We get pressed and errors occur, errors in front of our goal, surely Martin can see this is suicidal in the premiership. We then slowly advance and pass the ball 20 yards from their penalty area sideways back and forth. The opposition snaps at our heels, steals the ball, and makes quick breaks toward our goal while we race back and try to defend. This cannot continue! We are doomed if we do not change tactics, Martin are you out of your depth? An unambitious team selected, a few good changes but some first selected should not be even named subs |
| Your Report | Southampton v Sunderland Your Report added at 17:11:47 Bazunu didn't stand a chance with the first deflected goal and the second super-perfect strike so why is he marked so low? He plays as he is instructed to do by the manager. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Norwich City Your Report added at 19:24:45 What did Bazuna do so wrong to get such a low score and 'get rid of' comments? He stood no chance with any of the goals. He acted as a sweeper and was calm on the ball. He also very bravely dived at the feet of an attacker. Perhaps he will be driven out like Gunn and other players. I just wish fans were more supportive of all our players. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Crystal Palace Your Report added at 09:05:08 Bednarek obviously has not been told that we need to win this game. His woeful slow play, tippy tappy upset everyone. I am not impressed with Onuachu but if he is on the field why did no one try to utilise his height and get the ball to him? Sadly this has seen any hope of playing premiership football virtually disappear. We might as well start with a few promising youngsters in our next matches. |
| Your Report | Chelsea v Southampton Your Report added at 16:27:39 I would give Walcott an 8, he put in a lovely run and cross that Armstrong just could not get past their GK and also a long ball to Mara that could have resulted in a goal. He played with plenty of enthusiasm |
| Your Report | Southampton v Everton Your Report added at 19:18:43 This squad needs a few more games to evolve. It has huge potential, especially when our injured pair returns so please do not be despondent. There was nothing that RH did wrong against Everton, the players let themselves down by conceding two goals and soon those shots are going to be hitting the back of the net. Six new players in the team, not before time, but they cannot be expected to play as an experienced team. They were rubbish in the first half but showed plenty of character and spirit in the second half. |
| Your Report | Leicester City v Southampton Your Report added at 17:08:43 Why does it take a potential defeat to bring out the best in the team? Beautiful moments in the second half where we looked like a real threat. A good team selected and subs well used by RH. So looking forward to next Saturday's match against Manure |
| Your Report | Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton Your Report added at 19:27:03 No one has mentioned that in the second half Sanchez should have been given a second yellow and thus red-carded. . Everyone gets a mark of 10 from me, just wish I could give JWP 11. A night to remember |
| Your Report | Manchester City v Southampton Your Report added at 19:39:26 I suspect that Moss was told(VAR) that Armstrong was already going down and when he looked at the video monitor that is what he saw. That is all that he observed. What he missed was the clear foul by Walker and that without that foul Armstrong may have recovered and got a shot away. We were also in control of the ball when the whistle went and yet at the restart the ball was given to MC. Full marks to RH for his choice of words in the post match interview. |
| Your Report | Everton v Southampton Your Report added at 10:18:33 Forster waits for a game and then puts in a poor opening attempt to prevent their goal. Everton put the ball in the net a second time and a bemused and flustered Forster is saved by VAR. Not much to choose between our goalies, both will make great saves but both will be beaten. I have always thought that Redmond offered plenty but reluctantly I wish we had started with Tella. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Liverpool Your Report added at 14:12:31 A great all round brave performance by all the team. Valery looked good coming on in a more forward position. I hope that he is not moved on to another club, there surely is a future for him at Saints |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:06:07 Don't be too unkind to Valery. He hasn't played for months and apart from that disastrous moment he had an all right game. Plenty of other players made mistakes but were not punished with a goal. The team played as a team and it was good to see them consoling Moussa and also Valery. We might not like the result but it was a very spirited display. Before the red card we were well in control and afterwards defended courageously and with energy. Hate the result but pleased with the team. |
