The really best bit about the UK Election
at 15:21 5 Jul 2024

Good grief, nothing to see here, the blue tie WEF globalist has been replaced by the red tie WEF globalist, am I missing something?!

Lovely words John. I'm so sorry for your loss and not being able to be with her at the end.

I spent some time living in Harrow and then Pinner, so the Old Redding 'The Case is Altered' used to be my go to pub on balmy summer evenings in the late 80's.

Roy Wegerle's goal of the season - History

I was sat in the west stand, completely lost my head and celebrated. Leeds fans around me just a gave me a bit of a look and started applauding the goal.

The Drysalters towards the bottom of Elland Road was always my choice but I believe it closed last year.

Exactly which part on my observation doesn't stand up to scrutiny?

Have the events of recent years not made you a little less inclined to accept things at face value?

Maybe you were simply trying to be humourous.

John, I've always found your posts here and elsewhere measured intelligent and articulate.

Maybe, the Keir Sarmer accusation was a case of 'mud slinging' but I'm not sure the very corporation that employed JS is the ideal arbiter on such matters. Sorry, I couldn't access the Telegraph link.

I recently watched a 1978 interview with John Lydon who had some choice comments about 'the cigar muncher', his words not mine. Anyway I digress and I apologise for trying to provide oxygen for an unsubstantiated allegation.

Alas, in this case Keir Stamer failed to do an important job.

Maybe establishing 6.5 Million YouTube subscribers and being a constant thorn in the side of the'Establishment' results in the Government controlled BBC thinking this supposedly relatively minor celebrity is Global headline news ?Just sayiing?!

In that case perhaps you should familiarise yourself with some of his YouTube / Rumble content? You might find that these days he's quite a different person to Russell Brand 'the addict'. I will leave it at that.

Ashes 2023

The Aussie media in general are one-eyed and the sports media even more so. Honestly, apparently Wimbledon is as good as over after a week because there's only one Aussie player left in the tournament.

Bazball would have worked against this lot if only England had toned it down a tad during the odd passage of play that required such measures.

Maybe some of us of an older disposition have just fallen out of love with football in general? The good times seem to be well and truly behind us.

Where does Ainsworth go from here?

I know we are not blessed with options at this moment in time but was it such a good idea fielding the same 11 players that played with such intensity just 3 days prior?

Deploying 5 relatively fresh pairs of legs after we find ourselves 5-1 down doesn't strike me as particularly clever.

London Pub recommendations.

Did you mean this thread?

London Recommendations by slmrstid 4 Oct 2022 9:26
I'm going to delve into the hive mind of LFW here....

Me & Mrs SLM are heading to London for a week's break next week. We've both got some spare leave to use at work and have decided to spend a week in London as there's lots of little things we'd like to go and see/do in the city that we just never get time to do when only there for day trips like football etc.

We've done all the main touristy trail stuff many times so not really heading for that.

Things planned so far:-
- Greenwich Observatory (never been, both interested in it)
- Not bought tickets yet, but hoping to do a Hidden London tour at one of the underground stations - possibly Shepherds Bush - bit pricey but we find them fascinating
- Mrs SLM wants to go and see the Cross Bones graveyard after she learned about it on a Frank Turner song
- QPR Fans Forum (ahem... [angel] )
- I'd like to go and see the QPR blue plaque that's at the church where we were founded but I'm not 100% sure where it is - can anyone help on that?
- We like the markets so planning on heading to Borough and Camden as we've never been there.

What other sort of little quirky things that are interesting, but generally hidden, or non-mainstream places to visit that you'd recommend?

Thanks!

Well say hello to Fergal for me and I'm sure had he been behind me rather than in front he would have appreciated the QPR crest & Loftus Road W12 stickers in my car.

This morning I was headed towards my local West Oz shopping centre when I found myself a couple of cars back from a Ute bearing a 'WEAREQPR' number plate. Some time ago I also spotted a 'QPR1882' number plate in the very same shopping centre car park! We're here we're there we're every f***ing where! :D 8)

Ever randomly walked past a celebrity
at 05:01 13 Jan 2023

My most bizarre celebrity moment was walking out the UCL Chemistry department onto Gordon Street only to see Princess Diana on the other side of the road.

Walked past Kenny Everett & Patrick Mower in central London, Rodney Bewes, David Dimbleby & Tony Adams in Putney. Sat next to Declan Murphy (BBC) & Jimmy Mulville on the tube, struck up a conversation on the tube with John Champion on a trip back from Palace.

I was once on a flight to Cyprus with Toyah Wilcox. Also flew back from Australia 2001 with the then England cricket academy which included Strauss, Swann, Bell, Key, Tremlett, Tudor, Key & Jones. Richie Benaud nearly knocked the beers out of my hands at Lords and some years later I met him on Bondi Beach where he was filming an ad for Channel Nine (not long before his sad passing and still had a very firm handshake).

Joe McGann sat behind me in the SAR at a QPR v Liverpool game in the 90's when John Barnes was still playing for them. I've been in a pub sat next to Jim Davidson and a hotel bar in Nottingham with Michael Elphick & Neill Morrisey (Boon days). Also came out of a cinema behind Kriss Akabussi.

My personal favourite was catching Cheri Lungi's eye in Kensington High Street much to my wife's (then girlfiend) disgust!
