| News Comment | Lay down your pitchforks, Barton’s not the right target — guest column at 05:18:10
Tevez plays for Manchester City, a "sky 4" team, that's why he has been left alone. Lets reverse the situation for a minute. Barton punches Tevez who retaliates and gets sent off, losing hig rag in a simlar manner to Barton. Do you think the fact that Barton had punched him first would have been overlooked in the press and on TV? I think we all kow that we would have had multiple TV slow motion relapys of the punch by now. Barton would probably have waiting outside the Tevez hearing (2 match ban and $5,000 fine, reduced to suspended sentence on appeal) and due in next. |

Whether you’re a critic or supporter of Joey Barton, the difference in the team without him was there for all to see. He simply cannot start at Sunderland on Saturday. To do so would send a clear message that our team is selected on who you are rather than how you’re playing. There isn’t a single footballing reason for Barton to start at the Stadium of Light and having made a tough decision to withdraw him in this game Hughes must now make another and leave him out again at the weekend. Does anyone have Mark Hughes' email address? Please send this to him, now! Fantastic match report. |

Another thing, I know the "premier league" started in 1992 or so but I prefer to think of our 13 seasons in the top flight from 1983 rather than ignore the bulk of our last spell in the top division. IMHO it is a crime to leave out the likes of Paul Parker and David Seaman etc off a list such as this. |

Re Les Ferdinand that season Sheringham beat him by one goal to get the golden boot. Annoyed the crap out of me at the time as a very good percentage of Sheringham's goals were penalties whereas all Ferdinand's were in open play, something that should be recognised. |
