| News Comment | Southampton Defensive Issues Sorted It's The Finishing That Is The Issue Now at 15:03:08
At one nil our negative possession was always at risk of an equaliser. Our passing from Manning in particular to the inside defender or midfielder only to get it dark again is a waste of time and boring. Possession going forward is good but across the backbone is boring and risky. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Newcastle United The Verdict at 10:00:41
Normally agree with you on most postings but not this one. The anti Ralph sentiment is results and performance related not some sort of social media campaign. It was clear after 20 minutes that Theo was not going to give us that spark up front and we were all of the opinion to make a change asap but Ralph either could not see it or too stubborn. Time for a refresh. Had we kept Puel by the way I would have stayed at home to watch the grass grow. |
| News Comment | Ralph Hasenhuttl Drops Down To 2nd Place In Sack Race Odds at 10:11:24
Totally agree with the sentiment regarding respect and insults. Sadly some of the contributors to this site do not allow people to have differing views without getting abusive. If they were to meet Ralph in the pub would they use the same language or would they be able to debate and discuss in a civilised Manor. On the question of Ralph I think we have not progressed over his tenure and we've had a couple of nine nils to to cope with. His constant formation changes excessive team changes and the first half against Everton finally did it for me. |
| News Comment | Irony Not Lost As Le Tissier Steps Down As Southampton FC Ambassador at 19:10:56
Talking of propaganda our government demands that we accept women can have a penis, men can be pregnant and they are currently rewriting our history to suit the current agenda!! Clearly Putin is an animal, the covid strategy has yet to be reviewed but do not believe all you hear as gospel from our media. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Newcastle United The Verdict at 12:15:43
We need to work on our options for bringing the ball forward from defence. Too slow and predictable easy to defend against. Unfortunately JWP first thought is to go back or sideways. Newcastle scored after pumping ball forward from free kick on halfway line. All ours in similar positions went backwards. |
| News Comment | Southampton v Brighton The Verdict at 09:36:49
We are the hare to the totoise. Ralph needs to work on 90minute game plans for changing circumstances. We absolutely panicked on Saturday as Brighton threw caution to the wind and the goal seemed certain. Teams have worked out to allow us to play first half and then pressure us in the second. We Marathon not a sprint Ralph. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Sheffield United The Preview at 16:11:16
Despite our problems with injuries and poor VARs I think the need for a Plan B is more about how we play rather than just having fit players. I believe our weakness as an attacking force comes about as a result of our very slow build up from the back and the little triangle in midfield. If you shut your eyes you can see the same set play nearly every time which gives the opposition all the time in the world to defend against it and hence very few chances and little service to the forwards. I think if we were get forward quicker or even pop it over the top for Danny and Che to chase we would at least create more chances and reduce the pressure we often put on ourselves when we get caught in possession. As much as I like much of JWP play he is guilty of looking back more times than forward. |
| News Comment | Saints V Watford The Verdict at 17:33:30
I just wish Ward Prowse could move the ball forward from the back. Every time he receives a pass in the central midfield position he looks back or sideways. Please could whoever is in goal not keep booting the ball up in the sky which because of our short forward line will always be won by the centre half. Basics. |
| News Comment | Saints Scapegoats Show They Have Fight at 12:27:32
I just wish JWP would look to go forward rather than back or sideways. I appreciate players are not working the space or flanks particularly well but just look at the great Alan Ball to see how a simple pass forward can keep the momentum going. At present too many of our team are slow to get forward giving the opposition time to get back. |
| News Comment | Newspaper Claims Saints Squad Missing Rohl at 13:37:33
I agree that the drop off has been since he left although your comment about current coaches lacking premier league experience not relevant as Rohl had none when he came either. My concern is that Ralph has been so poor since and I would have expected more from a good manager, assistant or no assistant. |
| News Comment | Absolutely ******* Disgraceful at 09:46:02
The club should issue and apology and refund the fans. The staff offering one days wages to charity is laughable. I do not expect Saints to win but there are limits to whats acceptable. If we loose 4 -0 at home to a better side fair enough but this was way beyond that. Talk of a director of football will not change the fact that sadly Ralph has increasingly failed to make the right selections, tactics and subsitutions, and he must take full responsibility for the lack of effort and team dynamic. This is after all more or less the same team that finished so well last year. |
| News Comment | Time To Identify The Real Cause Of Saints Problems ! at 11:36:48
Only thing I would disagree with is that the coaches lack respect because of inexperience. I quote The Special One as having no previous experience before working for the great Bobby Robson and there are many more. Having played at a high level is no guarantee. I like the idea of succession planning and bringing a young English coach such as Davis to work with a manager. |
| News Comment | Saints V Chelsea The Verdict at 18:05:03
I always think when online one should be respectful as if you were having a chat face to face. If I bumped into Ralph in my local I would say this to him. Ralph we all want you to succeed and did not expect too much this year, maybe mid way or just above and to see a developing squad with one or two of our youngsters given a chance. But we are now playing with little team dynamic going forward and your team selections and substitutions are not helping. Can I make a few suggestions that might help. One get our goalkeeper to keep a low trajectory when lumping the ball up to our small forwards. I counted nine times when it went high and was won by the larger Chelsea defenders. Two, why do we seem to have no clue what to do when we get a throw in. Other than Che when on the field. And three, why do you allow so many of out players to keep playing the ball back and sideways, giving the opposition time to set themselves up and often putting ourselves under pressure. |
| News Comment | Saints V Bournemouth The Verdict at 11:38:29
Just an example of the lack of leadership was watching Solanke completely unmarked for the first five minutes or so when he came on. Nobody seemed aware of him which could have been costly. |
| News Comment | Vote Rupert Lowe For The Euro Parliament at 11:11:53
It was democracy that decided to leave and the political elite, supported by the poor losers who are trying to prevent the outcome of the largest vote ever. I am sure I still don't understand but as I say we should keep politics and insults out of this site. |
| News Comment | Saints V Arsenal The Verdict at 09:50:52
It was like turning up to watch another team play. Normally the back line is right in front of us in the Northam Stand but yesterday they were a good 10 yards further forward. Pleasure to watch. Good luck Ralph, me and Pete really enjoyed it. |
