It's the Dunnes & Fields who give this team its identity,
The Andersen & Madsens will come & go, brief cameos, a light jog now and again,
With Cook, Morrison & Varane as a poster mentioned briefly we have a core suited to the rigours of this division,
I just hope Nourry doesn't make a complete hash of Dunnes contract negotiations,
Like Barbet, a committed player who is ever-present and can play in a few positions should not be short-changed. |

For us anoraks on here who like this level of insight, this post is spot on, tho does beg the question why did Cifuentes start him in must not lose games and what were Bristol City thinking spending that money on him? |

Agree 100%,
Seen him bobble hat & keeping a low profile in our Away End a few seasons back v Reading and at Wigan when he might have been on loan,
Always makes time for the fans, another top lad in our squad. |

Yes, 100%, as last season we didn't win quite a few similar must win games but taking points off Oxford & Cardiff is so important, even this early in the season. |

Yes it's lots of small positives which taken together give alot more hope,
Firstly, Oxford were so poor with zero attacking threat, which when you then consider Portsmouth, Plymouth etc you begin to believe there are 3 worst teams,
Secondly you expect to see Field haring back up the pitch to stop an attack but when you see Varane doing likewise you see how we've stopped conceding so many,
Other real positive when you consider how short we are in attack was not just Kolli's leap last night but how he never gave Shane Duffy a free header the other night, uses his body so well,
Long way to go but with Kolli, Chair, Saito & Smyth we suddenly got an attack that's awkward to defend against and can cause problems for most teams, let's hope. |

Agree, he was excellent, and was stepping up with the ball more which helps us break the press rather than overly rely on the pass out to the right back,
Random one but I freeze framed Kolli's leap for his assist, that was Ronaldo levels of elevation, superb from the young lad. |

Jonathan Varane after the lap of the pitch on the final whistle went over to the fans in the East Paddock sat on the billboards just chatting with random fans, taking selfies, having a laugh,
Seems to really love what he does, with the likes of Dunne, Field, Varane we seem to have a core group of really good lads, who love what they do and really treat our fans with the respect they deserve,
Superb on & off the pitch, those small things mean so much. |

100% agree, potentially some player, has it all, seeing him just sitting on the billboards just chatting with random fans after the game was so uplifting. |

Agree 100%, can see a £5m+ player there already, has huge potential,
Desire, athleticism, bravery, good in the air and tackle, can pass and beat a man,
And judging by how he was after the game sitting on the billboards just chatting to random fans, seems to love his job. |

I want our Captain to communicate & encourage throughout the game,
Sorry but speaking to a player after they've scored doesn't do it for me,
If I'd seen him straight over to Morgan who was in shock and some pain to find out wtf had happened, I'd call that leadership,
Anyone can celebrate when things go well, the measure of someone is how they react when things don't go well,
And too often I see him looking to blame others be it Nardi, Dunne whoever,
Each to their own in what they expect from the teams leader I suppose. |

Fortunately for us those match officials were dreadful,
On another day at least 1 of your 2 goals is given as was onside and a very likely penalty,
McLean didn't intend to connect with his elbow but was reckless and did, with VAR that's a Red,
Stamp on Madsen was a Red for me, right in front of the Linesman,
I get your clubs frustration with the process, but not sure what the League do when relying on such inept officials. |

Newbee, wrong forum and your post is completely wrong,
McLean clotheslined Morgan and in doing so smashed him flush on the jaw with his elbow,
In no way was Morgan play acting, the lad was seriously hurt and reacted with shock,
Wasn't a deliberate elbow but easily could have lost some teeth, Red Card all day. |

I reckon Morgan would have preferred me on Saturday, trust me, I wouldn't be laughing & joking with McLean after he elbowed my 18 year old team mate on the jaw,
Coming back to the incident, McLean tried to clothesline Morgan, not sure he meant to elbow him flush on the jaw, but he did.
That and the stamp on Madsen were both Reds for me. |

Fair enough, if I'm playing with Ossie I know he's positionally all over the place so I'm talking him through the game, with Morgan I've got his back,
Cook is an excellent pro who's ever present and a 7 most weeks, just not beyond reproach when he makes occasional errors,
For Chefs benefit for his professionalism he is polar opposite to our former striker he mentions. |

Read my posts again,
I said senior players, I said yellow card,
I deliberately didn't name or mention Cook as some are overly sensitive,
I've never seen a leader in him since he played no return hospital balls to Ossie Kakay and then berated him,
If I'm playing inside Ossie Kakay I'm talking and encouraging him for 90 minutes, step, hold, get tight, not hanging him out to dry,
Had a decent game Saturday as a player, as a Leader he let Morgan down. |

A so called Captain / Leader sees a young player in his team clutching his jaw in agony and for me asks what happened?
He doesn't laugh & joke with the thug who did it,

I was in a corporate box and had benefit of watching aftermath on TV,
Morgan was in shock and in pain, unlikely Cook saw the elbow but even so, ask your young team-mate what happened and behave accordingly,
To see Cook laughing and joking with McLean was galling enough for me, imagine how young Morgan felt,
When I played and as team captain, you never let your younger players get bullied otherwise you lost the battle and their respect,
I'm told that blokes our leader, for those who think that re-watch that incident, he's no team leader. |

I was disappointed none of our senior players opted for a yellow card and put a reducer on McLean after that,
Aftermath and Morgans reaction was he'd been elbowed off the ball,
Rather that joke with McLean he should have been repaid in kind at the next corner. |
