What is your second sport.
at 11:50 15 Jun 2024

In terms of playing mine is definitely darts, as I both play 3 times a week (only once a week over the summer though) and run a league here.

To watch though I mainly like F1, NFL, darts, cricket, & tennis.

DNA tests - anybody had one?
at 18:31 18 Nov 2021

I think the problem at the moment is they are just rough guesses. I don't think they're totally inaccurate though. I have found Irish when researching the ancestry, but not Scottish yet which is on both our DNA results. The fact we'll have inherited different things from our parents will naturally make our DNA results slightly different.

If my DNA was matching what i'm aware of from researching my family tree, besides eastern & southwestern England i'd primarily expect small amounts of Gibraltarian (or southern Spain), southern France, Germany, Ireland & Wales.

Cheers, I'll try my best not to screw it up at the death, unfortunately i'm not very good at holding onto leads!

The main thing is i'll win the mini league involving my brother as he normally dominates that (the fact he's friends with one of the top FPL players always seems to give him an advantage. ), so if I can win this one too it will be a bonus.

Anyone here into Gothic or Symphonic Metal?
at 18:29 20 Dec 2017

I've been listening to this kind of music for years, and have Evanescence, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica & After Forever all on my phone. A few others worth checking out that I also have:

Apocalyptica
Delain
Lacuna Coil
Leaves' Eyes
Sirenia
Tarja (Original singer for Nightwish)

I have seen Evanescence (Hammersmith, and have tickets to see them in April too), Nightwish (saw them in Prague!), Apocalytica (saw them in Luxembourg!), Within Temptation (Wembley Arena), & Delain (supported Within Temptation at Wembley Arena). Did have tickets to see Tarja too, but wasn't able to go.

7/7 10th Anniversary
at 13:29 7 Jul 2015

The 10 years has flown by...

I remember I was working at Luton University at the time, someone had come out of one of the offices telling us to look at the news. My first instinct was to contact my gf at the time who was driving her mum to St Mary's Hospital that morning from Notting Hill, but with the mobile network down I wasn't able to get through. Her dad had heard the bus bomb go off from where he was working at Great Ormond Street.

The weekend after she had come up to Luton to see me, and whilst standing at Luton station as she was heading back we commented how far away from it all it seemed. A couple of days later I was at work again when they closed Luton station because 'explosive devices' had been found in a car at the station's car park from where the bomber's had parked there on their way into London. It turned out we weren't as far away from it as we thought!

A few days after that was the minibus bomb in Kusadasi, Turkey where my parents had not long returned from their holiday. They had also planned to go on a Nile cruise when the riots kicked of in Egypt, and were in Tunisia at the time of the recent shooting. I've made a note never to go on holiday with my parents!

I remember the first time I went into London after the bombings, I was due to get a train to West Hampstead where my ex was going to pick me up. Instead a fire at Cricklewood forced my train to terminate at Mill Hill Broadway, meaning I had to go to get a bus to Mill Hill East where I caught the tube, the atmosphere in the tube carriage was surreal because of the tension.

Ultimately whatever ridiculous excuses these terrorists use for their actions it's always the innocent people that suffer regardless of their nationality, race, or religion, and it's not just those caught up directly in the incidents that suffer.

No Loft, with no child
at 00:23 23 Sep 2014

Loftboy I assume that was the one who was sitting in the front row? He looked like he'd gone to the game with a QPR fan, although I'd worked out he was a Man Utd fan because when he looked towards their fans he was miming to their songs. I don't see how anyone behind you could've noticed that though.

Thanks. He's ok but looks worse than he is, although i'm not sure you can ever look great having lost a tooth, dislocated 2 fingers and needing surgery on a cut by the eye!

Well I'm the lucky one of me and my siblings tonight. My brother is in hospital overnight having come off his bike cycling to work, whilst my sister will finish a 12 hour shift at work at 5am and she's the one driving us to Wembley! Things can always be worse than just not being able to sleep....!

You're not the only one still awake. Maybe it's an Enfield thing as that's where I was born!

Really sorry to hear about this. Like many others here I didn't know he'd passed away. I remember chatting to him quite a lot when I had my season ticket in R block, hard to believe how much time has passed since then. There is no doubting how much he loved the Rs and hopefully he'll rain down some luck on us from above.

08/2006 L 1-3 Ipswich (H)
10/2006 D 3-3 West Brom (A)
09/2007 D 1-1 Leicester (A)
09/2008 W 1-0 Aston Villa (A) (League Cup)
10/2010 D 1-1 Bristol City (A)
04/2011 D 2-2 Cardiff (A)
12/2011 L 0-1 Liverpool (A)
04/2012 L 0-2 Man Utd (A)
01/2013 W 1-0 Chelsea (A)
04/2013 L 0-2 Everton (A)

Derby's record with Mason as ref - W:1 D:1 L:3

03/2003 D 1-1 Sheff Utd (A)
08/2004 L 2-4 Crewe (H)
01/2005 W 2-1 West Ham (A)
08/2007 L 0-1 Man City (A)
10/2007 L 0-1 Reading (A)

He's never given a penalty to QPR but has awarded 4 to the opposition. He's also awarded 1 to Derby but never against them. Derry is the only red card he's awarded in matches involving either team.

And yes I was bored at the time I looked this up.....!

I'm glad that they've finally got back up after the FA totally screwed them over. I do miss the entertainment of trying to get home from 'away' matches against them though, as I have to walk through the town centre to get home and the police will try and stop me from doing so. I can probably get home quicker from the west paddock than I can from Kenilworth Road!

Not so sure these will count as players anyone forgot played for us, but more ones they hadn't even realised had played for us:

Scott Mulholland
Lewis Hamilton
Luke Townsend

All of which I witnessed coming on as sub on a Tuesday night up in Burnley. Townsend also came on as sub a few days later at Wigan (one of Rossi's rare appearances). I think they were the only appearances those players ever made.

St MaryleboneRackham Street Infirmary (St Charles Hospital)
at 18:12 29 Oct 2013

As someone who worked in St Charles Hospital from July 2008 up until March this year, it's always been interesting learning some of the history of the place.

At one stage I was temporarily working in an office based in the chapel (above the archway that leads to the main entrance), which did feel a bit strange compared to a normal office! The department I was working for is now based in the tower itself.
