I think that was a fair result today considering you were expecting to win and I was expecting to lose!
Thanks for being such good company Noah 4x4 and friends. It was so nice to see you all again.
I’ll return to this forum and let you know when I’ll be back in Colchester.
Hopefully next season🤞

Hi Wessex Exile,
I’m not actually a ‘chap’ which I remember was mentioned the last time I was on here chatting with a few of you before & after the game.
It was a long time ago!

Regarding cabs, I booked one last time to and from the stadium and both turned up late. I looked at reviews online and they are pretty bad but then again, so are all the taxi firms there according to Google.
I did try to phone them yesterday to make a booking but nobody answered the phone.
Says it all really!

Hello again Noah 4x4,
I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since we last played at yours on a Monday night and I met a few of you in the Victoria beforehand.

A lot has happened since then. We have been to League One (and back) and now we’re both trying our hardest to remain in League Two.

Anyway, I’m planning to make the journey from London again tomorrow, despite engineering works which will probably be a nightmare!

Not sure how I’ll be getting to the ground yet. I might attempt to walk it or get a bus as your local cab companies are apparently unreliable!

I will hopefully be in the same pub around lunchtime/late morning depending on journey and would be really good to say hello again.
🙂

Thank you Wessex exile. It was a very good away day for me, even though I spent most of the second half waiting for the whistle. So nerve wracking!!

Lovely to meet you and your friends Noah 4x4.
Thank you for recommending the Victoria. Very nice pub with lots of friendly Colchester fans to talk to.
My cabs turned up on time and I safely arrived home at 12.30am.
I appreciate the helpful advice you both gave me.
Thanks again.

Good to have lots of info that I can look at on the night in order to find my way around.
Thanks all.
I didn't realise that the supporter's bar at the ground is closed due to it being a vaccination centre.
I noticed when I bought my ticket online that seat numbers will be allocated and fans still sit in 'bubbles' so Covid restrictions must still be in place.

I hope you sell lots of tickets and we all have a great night of football.
I would say that I expect us to win but we have a habit of not doing so well when performing in front of the TV cameras!

Hi wessex exile,
Thank you for the rapid response to my questions.
I'm actually only coming from London rather than Nailsworth but still quite far to travel on a Monday night!
I have to be up early for work the next morning so want to get away as soon as possible afterwards and catch the first available train back.
I'll be arriving in plenty of time to get to the ground so might start walking to get an idea of distance and book a cab to collect me from somewhere on the route after the match as you suggested.
How far is the Dog & Pheasant pub from the ground? Does it welcome away fans?
Also, is there a bar area available to away fans at the ground?
Thanks again for the info.

Excellent gesture by your club.
I support FGR and have just purchased a ticket for the match.
I've never visited Colchester before so don't know the area but I see that the football ground is quite a long way from the railway station (I'll be travelling from Liverpool Street).
Are there regular buses, especially after the match? Or is it safer to book a cab?
Is traffic usually so bad that it will be quicker to walk?!!

Any info will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
