I very strongly do not believe we should be open to seeing because of Fox and Larkeche, unless others have seen something i haven’t. Should only be if we have a good idea of a cheaper replacement. Those two are short term stop gaps really. |

I think it has to be on a case by case basis though.
Sure, if Watford are desperate and want to spend £2.5m, we'd probably be wise to accept. But if it's more like £1m, we have to also remember Barbet. As Clive said, the value of having someone who is fit, available and reliable week after week cannot be understated. This isn't a kid who PL teams are looking at and we're beating off bids for while desperately offering far too much money to stay. He'll be on an average wage and has a lot of upsides and I suspect would be happy to sign a new deal if offered (but maybe I'm wrong, and we've put his name out there accordingly). I'm all for selling big assets and making profits here and there, but it's always worth weighing up the pros and cons. |

Eze should never have been there, but on the contrary, he defended those two instances well, and did enough to put off the bloke for the big chance. Thought he played really well overall.
The stuff about what money he's on is meaningless. It's up to the FA what they pay Wiegman, not Southgate. What's the PM's salary got to do with the price of rice?
Brooking's root and branch restructuring of the game over a decade ago has meant us producing more technically sound players than at any point in the last 50 years. |

I think we do have width. What we don't have is cohesion. Look at spain and how every time they have it there are four or five players within a few yards ready for a pass. Our biggest problem is the gaps between all of our players. All standing miles away from one another, no options given. Every time we get it, Saka is on the touchline, Foden is usually on the touchline. The width is there, but the movement of the ball isn't quick enough because the gaps between players are so big. |

Agree -the moronic stuff is just that - moronic.
But also think Neville is right. This is not about us 'expecting' to win the tournament. I don't think many people 'expect' that - but we do have a right to expect better than those four games, which have all been at best sub par and at worst absolute rubbish. I've defended Southgate for years, but his refusal last night to use subs was bordering on stupidity. Watch Spain, a team not even fancied to win this tournament a fortnight ago, and how they react to being 2-1 up, 3-1 up: going forward, get the next goal. That's Marti's philosophy too. Even when we went 2-1 up last night, we just retreated, when we had them by the balls. I don't get it. |

not really, because we gave him a new bloody contract! we could have let him go for a free this summer. F knows why we didn't.
I doubt we'll be signing a striker unless someone leaves. We have 3 competing for one position, we can't afford to have 4 I'm afraid. |

I think they came 2nd in the 2nd tier that year, but it was the season they did 4 down 2 up to get the top flight down to 20 teams. |

Agree.
For the last few seasons I've been amazed at some of the optimism on the board in pre-season. As it happens, I'm more optimistic this year, but if we lose, say, Willock, chair and JCS and someone comes in for Marti (all of which could easily happen over the next 4 months) we'll easily be back down there again.
If Marti stays for the season, however, I'm fairly confident we'll be up around 9th-12th. |

Off abroad before end of the Euros and like to watch with English comms, plus get cricket on Sky. Anyone got any advice on the most likely one to work around the Beeb and Sky abroad? I've tried a couple in the past, but they were quite hit and miss...

But we still don't know context.
What if the guy had his hand raised about to hit Ilias's girlfriend? Or had hit her already? What if the other guy had a rock or a weapon?
I'm not excusing it, but as I've said on this subject a number of times, none of us were there. Equally, the fact he's been given community service for what seems like a pretty bad assault strongly suggests there is more to the story. |
