Great cartoon by "Blower" in The Telegraph today (sorry, can't do links). Two blokes chatting outside a pub called "The Vexatious Litigant" and one points saying "it used to be called the Saracen's Head".

Losing, and never again finding, the end of the sellotape. I know they do those spool things, but I'm not a supply teacher with a gonk on the end of my pencil and patches on my jacket.
Come to think of it, the whole Christmas wrapping experience is distressing - can't I just transfer dollary-doos straight to the kids instead ? |

Well now I feel really ignorant.
Never knew he was a Hoop (100 games !) and I spent parts of my youth at Wealdstone questioning in song his mother's promiscuity. For me he was just another loser manager for that pile of doo-dah, Harrow Borough.

Thank you to whoever recommended 'American Pastoral' by Philip Roth on a previous book thread. Not an easy read as it unpicks the conflicts and guilt of a father knowing that his daughter has committed murder.
Now on "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" which is already challenging preconceptions of madness. |

Done exactly the same thing in Dunelm - its that or blow your brains out. Also have to write QPR with a finger on any dirty cars found on holiday.

That is an excellent point you make- he had a terrific knack for slowing down, teasing his full back and as soon as the unfortunate had slightly shifted his weight into the wrong position, James was off like a whippet.

Sensors on cars - no they shouldn't be so over-sensitive they auto apply my brakes at 70mph on the M1 for no reason. No they shouldn't be so loud that the reversing bong on the woman over the road wakes me up every night.
If automated cars depend on this technology, gawd help us. |
