Thoughts on everyones first impressions, from those who went?

Man of the match for me by a mile was Jamie Allen, he was superb and the best quote of the night was from their manager "That number 24 is taking the pi$$ out of us" - he was right.

Overall impression was that there is a lot of potential there but there's a lot of work still to be done. I think the centre back pairing will be a good one they were constantly talking and working together. Eastham looks a little more no nonsense where as Lanky looks like he's a little more comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Rose we know about and scored a great free kick.

Logan had a big task today playing right back and he worked hard and did OK. Think it will have been great for his concentration levels. It was commented that he was always the first one off the mark to chase back onto through balls. He also got forward well.

Hery worked very hard and has a few tricks up his sleeve but I think he is a work in progress needs to work on his positioning and tactical side of his game.

Vince did OK like the team as a whole was a lot better in the first half and died away a little in the second.

Hogan was brilliant! Think he will be a great asset this season.

Bunney worked his socks off always running. He's dangerous at set pieces as well as you can imagine.

Abadaki and Reece both came on and were quiet.

Vidal who came on at right back loves a tackle, looks athletic and a reasonable prospect. Maybe a little reckless seemed to like going to the floor. I think we were linked to him when Eyre first came in as he was a free agent.

All in all it was good to see the new players and the potential we have. Thinking about all the players who didn't feature today we have a really deep squad probably one of the largest we've ever had.

Poll: What are we more excited for?

We finally have a bit of height in the team.

The team look very fit, Rose inparticular looks like he has dropped a stone.

Some nice play, but far to early to make judgement.

Also a strong rumour that Bobby G will leave for a club in a higher division this week.

Everything thats been, has past. The answers in the looking glass!

Thought Rose was excellent. Think he was involved in all 5 goals. His set piece deliveries are Premiership standard.

You can see why Hill was so keen to sign him up - a quality footballer.

And I agree with you on Logan. Our lhs is going to be a force this season!

Poll: Who do you think bury should appoint as their next manager?

Hogan was outstanding tonight. He's quick, can move with the ball and take players on and he's got a hell of a shot on him. The header he scored was a tremendous effort. My MOM by some distance ahead of Allen and Hery.

Hery worked very hard all evening and certainly looks to have a fair bit of ability. Possibly guilty of trying to hard to impress and that caused him to give the ball away a few times.

Jamie Allen looked like he'd been playing for years and certainly not a youngster, very impressive.

I know the opposition were very poor indeed and the pitch was bobbly but I was very encouraged. We'll get a tougher game on Saturday I suspect.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

Jamie Allen and Scott hogan were outstanding tonight, hogan looks a very direct player that knows how to beat his man, also showed he has a good eye for goal with his hattrick. My MOM has to go to Jamie Allen though, was so comfortable with ball at his feet and has great passing ability, especially from set pieces.

I commented during the second half that Hogan's style reminded me of Mark Smith (1988).

Sorry, most won't remember, but we got £50,000 for him from Huddersfield in 1989 which was a huge transfer back then!

Logan played at right-back.

Hogan was on the left-wing.

Perhaps we need a LoganHoganWatch this season.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I presume the trialists were played as a favour for an agent.

Possibly but if we were to strengthen we only have one natural right back and one keeper plus the keeper coach as backup. So another right back and a young keeper wouldn't be completely out of the question.

I wouldn't be surprised if the keeper signed he'll be cheap. Thought I saw barrow boss dave bayliss watching in the first half. Might have been wrong, maybe a few younger players loaned out

Perhaps we brought keeper in to show Lillis how to kick a ball & keep it in play maybe Lillis didn't get a game because the pitch was a bit narrow.

I saw Bayliss. The head of recruitment from Wolves was at the game as well (I think).

Kevin Thelwell? Interesting. Wolves are currently up in Scotland on their pre-season tour (I'm covering the East Fife game tonight and Livingston on Saturday). Wonder who they are watching? Kenny Jackett has the same mentality as Hilly on recruitment - young, hungry players.

As BG is due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday July 15 it'd be tidier for all concerned if any move was settled this week.

agree Hogan looked a handful and very strong helped by rose talking to him all night, jamie allen was excellent very paul scholes linking play and using the ball well, thought the centre halfs looked ok but pace once turned could be an issue, hery didnt look ready for first 11,but never gave up.

enjoyable night

If BG departs, Hilly might look to loan a striker in rather than sign one. Perhaps the chap Rose at Barnsley, who Whitey felt might serve?

Or someone like Rory Donnelly at Swansea, who hasn't got near the first team since signing for them. He would be an asset.

Signed Rory Donnelly on loan on FM13 and he bagged goals for fun.

There is actually a vid of him on You Tube scoring some scorchers for Cliftonville.

If forward planning's involved , I wonder if Matty Done is not already signed as the replacement for Grant , making assumptions about KH's preferred formation ?

Even so , I agree that , at some stage , we may well need an extra striker on loan to supplement Donnelly .

Looks like Donnelly might be in Laudrup's plans this season...

am sure it was just a coincidence, but every one of the matchday squad was either a Keith Hill signing, given a pro deal under Keith Hill, or was on trial. Not one Coleman or Eyre signings.
