You've got to be joking, a Man city player deliberately handles the ball in the first half right in front of the ref, the ref gives us a free kick, if I'm not mistaken the ref should caution the Man City player thus putting the Man City player under pressure for the rest of the game.

On tv the remy offence looked outside the box but it did look a free kick and a booking to me. Lescott foot was dangling out and obstructed remys run it shouldn't matter wether he got touch or not the intent was there and we all saw it . |  | | |

Over the course of the match his and the Ellersie linesman got a lot wrong, the huge cheers and I mean huge ironic cheers from the home crowd when we got a rare free kick were enough for me. | |

I'm sorry - but I have never rated him. I do not like his style of refereeing and his manner on the pitch. He certainly favours the bigger teams (but just like a lot of refs). I thought that he had a poor game tonight in a match whilst being obviously intense was not over physical or malicious. I think that he felt guilty about potential pen for Remy not given, and tried to make it up with that absurd free kick quickly after - and the pathetic marching back of the non existant 10 yards - which of course Granero then blasted over as usual. |  | | |

That Sinclair penalty shout looked nailed on from halfway up Ellerslie. For that I forgive him giving every single 50% shout to City to that point.

I counted two occasions the ball was hoofed out and hit the top of Ellerslie Road and ball came back into play and both the fat short officials played on.
Even Onuoha bought the ball down and put towards where the ball went out by Hart and Fat Dowd gave a throw to them. |
To be fair there was a gale force wind blowing off the top of Ellerslie and once the ball got into that it looked like it hit a brick wall and changed direction sharpish. Source of great amusement in the Upper Loft. | | | |

If no action takes place from the FA then it will become obvious that they now condone this behaviour. They need to be held accountable for allowing this type of behaviour - and the LOTG say striking or attempting to strike is punishable by expulsion - to continue unchecked. Pity we are talking about the FA here. Here in Aussieland Silva would have been given a three-match ban by a tribunal post-match. |  | | |

Granero got booked for tugging Silva's shirt, although he tried to let the play continue until Granero got a good tackle into clear. Then he booked him. It could have been just for the tug but it was also cumulative, after 3 previous fouls.
The only thing he missed all night was Silva's sly little kick at Derry.
Considering how unfit he is and that he only gets to see the incidents once, at full speed, he had an excellent game. |
Agreed, especially regarding the Granero booking.
The only other thing I thought he got wrong, other than missing the Silva kick, was a very soft free kick against Onuouha on the edge of our box in the second half.
There seems to be a clear difference on this thread between those who went to the game and those who watched on TV and had replays. Now I appreciate you get a perspective on the game at the stadium that you don't with the the narrower field of vision on the screen, but in terms of the big refereeing decisions those with the benefit of seeing replays, close-ups and slow mos are surely better placed to judge.
(Having said that, the Remy penalty shout wasn't at all clear cut. The replays don't prove either way whether or not there was contact, in which case I think the ref has to give the benefit of the doubt to the defending team.)

Taraabt was checked when he'd released the ball and landed about 5 foot from where he was standing; now Adel is a bit of a chunk so that took some doing. Then about 5 minutes later in the same area (our left side attack) the same happened to Traore.
neither were awarded, and then the fat prik went and gave a soft free kick to them for an absolute nothing challenge. Apparently they can use their hands to control the ball as much as they like too! |  | | |

If Derry had done it Silva would've rolled over ten times to get Derry sent off.And if Barton had done it he would've been bannd for life. Dowd was clueless and his assistants.Three times I saw the ref look at the paddock lino, he looked at ref, there was a pregnant pause for about 5-6 seconds then Dowd made a decison. So he was guessing.And guess what, all 3 decisions went to Citeh. No coincidence.
The only deserved yellow was Mbias mental chalenge. I thought Barrys yellow was a bit harsh but IF it was deserved he then committed a worse offence on the edge of the box and Dowd didn't even talk to him having blown for the freekick.

It's not often I talk about the officials, but they were really poor on the night.
Dowd was barely 10 metres away from the centre circle for the entire match, got in the way of a couple of passages of play for either side, was giving every small issue to Manchester City but not for us to begin with. Then under the barracking of the crowd, only served to give us dubious free kicks in token areas, almost like a gesture and the free kick he gave to us just outside their box was scandalous and never a foul on Mbia in a million years (more the other way). It was almost like an admission of guilt that he might have got the Remy decision wrong.
There was also an inconsistency on yellow cards, where he let some fouls go that should have been, based on the yellows he gave in the game.
And how they missed the ball hitting the roof and coming back into play I'll never know. Astonishing. I was distinctly unimpressed, they were rubbish for both sides. |  | | |

I agree all of that but would add the Remy tumble which looked at nailed on pen (from about 120yards away). Confirmed on match choice that he was clipped. Cost us two points. |  |

That one where Hart hoofed it out and it hit the Ellerslie Road stand was unbeliveable. I don't think I've ever seen such a poor decision. If they'd scored from the thrown in there would have been a riot!
He got the two pen decisions right I think but he let Man City get away with all the niggly ones.

Penalty shouts were judgement calls that even those above that have seen replays can't agree on! so can hardly said to be obvious!
