Need to get the car serviced and want someone who will do a good job and not rip me off either.

You and the rest of the country are also looking for a mechanic who won't rip you off.
He could well be a decent, good one, but (sharp sucking in of air through gritted front teeth), it won't come cheap.
Went to the same school of customer service as all those utility people, mobile phone salesmen & anyone who knows that you need them more than they need you.

Been using them for years & never had a problem other then getting buses
to & from Finchley when I have had to leave a car with them.

Do you know what, it would definitely be worth calling BMW to see how much they will service your car for, you might be surprised! I've owned 4 BMW's now (all purchased and maintained by BMW) and the servicing costs can be cheaper than non BMW garage. I've had a full oil service carried out on my previous 3 series for under £130 as they offer fixed price servicing for older cars. Even a major service (inspection 1) on the 3 series only costs about £170, includes genuine BMW parts and you can often negotiate that price down further if you walk into a dealership to enquire. I'd be interested to know how you get on with wherever you go.
