My day yesterday started with my 142nd blood donation overlooking the pitch at Portman Rd.Then a cheap return train ticket to Liverpool St and then the usual 7 mile walk to the White Horse and a few Guinness to put the iron back in the body. A poor 1st half was followed by both Sam Field goals being scored right in front of us to clinch the 3 points. Even the 9 minutes added time didn’t stop me from getting the 10.37 train home at Stratford. And we even got our ugly mugs on tv at the start of the 2nd half. Lou Reed sang about a perfect day,and that summed it up for me yesterday.
Sitting on the train at White City & being told that the train is being held due to an obstruction at Marle Arch, I thought I might miss that train, but I was at Liverpool Street well before the 10.30 departure.
It's strange how the journey home is so much more enjoyable after we've won!
