Celar 15:55 - Nov 23 with 23822 views | andrew1302 | Has there been a worse striker in a QPR shirt? The man is absolutely useless. We have had some poor strikers but i really think he is amongst the worst. I feel sorry for him. He should not have been bought. It is lamb to the slaughter. He is probably trying his best but his best is League 2 and not his fault. Nourry and Belk or whoever are to blame for him.
Celar on 07:30 - Nov 28 with 1768 views | bongo_king | Happy for him, and for us, but like some others I'm still not sure he's the type of striker we need / fits the system we're playing - Marti's system does seem to need more a disruptive, hard working target man. Watched his Lugano goals again just now, recurring themes seem to be (1) having a bit of time in the box - often a 2 touch finish like his first last night; or (2) breaking the offside trap and having time to finish, like the second. Getting the most out of him goalwise will require either somehow getting him more space in the box, or more frequently breaking a defensive high line. Admittedly he made a bit of his own time last night for the first, which is a good sign.
Celar on 08:18 - Nov 28 with 1557 views | GaryT | As others have said, the first goal flies into the top corner 1 out of a 100 times but you have to be ready to take those chances and he was. The best thing about the second goal is the confidence boost it will give him because he only got the chance because they were chasing the game into extra time and that's a luxury we/he won't get very often this season. So if we are hanging on to a one goal lead, he's a great option to bring off the bench as he showed he can be calm under pressure in a 1 v 1 situation. If only we could find the bastard love child of Armstrong (get out of my way puny boy) and Celar (Come on keeper, keep coming)....ahhhh, we can dream. Away to Watford, won seven out of eight home games, drawing the other. Bollox. I hope the good vibes hang over until Norwich and we give Celar some real encouragement. Need to come up with some new Celar songs...

Celar on 07:10 - Nov 28 by Lblock | If he goes on a scoring streak for the rest of the season then I’m sure loads of us will put our hands up and say fair play to the lad. Would you seriously have said that up to minute 39 last night? I’d be sticking those two goals on loop on a showreel and seeing what January brings still That aside we need another striker. Badly. Alfie and Kolli aren’t the back up answer yet Congrats to Zan for last night. Get to double figures and I’ll be adding pepper sauce to my word’s gladly |
Yeah I'm pleased he scored on a human level but his lack of pressing or holding up of the ball was a big problem again for us last night as we just couldn't get up the pitch second half. He looks like he has to play in a front 2 but our piss poor recruitment means we only have 2 strikers at the club so not something we can do regularly Hopefully though those goals give him some confidence and he can get a few more in the next few weeks, lets face it we all want him to do well no one was pleased he looked so crap the first 16 games

He's not a lone striker, is he? Bannister, Allen (C), Spencer...none of these were lone strikers either. All great number 9s but all would be lost pressing on their own or holding the ball up against CBs in this set-up. But great to see those finishes last night. Maybe when Dembele's back offering a bit more speed and Chair behind he may be better judging on last night. We still definitely need at least one more senior striker - no club can just have two.
Celar on 08:36 - Nov 28 with 1362 views | Rangersw12 | Really happy for Celar that he finally broke his duck and both goals were superb finishes which shows there is at least some potential. But let's not kid ourselves that his performance was any different to his last 19/20 or so. He still needs to get involved more and do the basics better . Really happy for him though and it showed the team they were over the moon for him with the way they all celebrated He also only needs to score 5 more to get to Dykes total from last season which shows how low the bar has been with strikers over the last few years Hopefully this will now give him a bit of confidence and he will kick on from here [Post edited 28 Nov 8:37]

Two well taken goals with the second being very impressive. Yes his control & hold up play were not great, but he was no worse than Paul Smyth was!

Agreed. I thought, watching on TV, that he seemed to be a bit more determined in his running and a bit more aggressive in his challenges, even before he scored the first. Inevitably he tired and faded in the second half and does look a bit lost up front at times. However, it's an impossible job when everyone else is under instructions to file back into shape. He did really well to finish the second goal.

I've also been thinking about what kind of tactics would suit his skillset and you make some good points. I think playing the ball into the box earlier and quicker would provide him with that bit more space he needs. The time it takes to deliver a final pass is usually too long allowing the oppos defence to get set and close down the spaces in the box. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Celar on 10:50 - Nov 28 with 803 views | aston_hoop | Now exceeding the Viktor Gyokeres scale who only scored one goal in his first 23 Championship games. Celar already has 2 in just 17 league games! But yeah, I think we all just needed to let him settle, hopefully this takes the heat off now and he can play without fear
