Crowd 4,265. Where did they all come from? Would be nice crowd for home league games.
I reckon dozens of free tickets given to local youth teams Gerry. Not proper U’s supporters as these large groups in the South Stand started leaving way before the final whistle.
Nice to see a decent performance, but Arsenal were poor. No wonder Premier League clubs buy in so much overseas talent.

Without wishing to be too confrontational, I’m going to challenge that Noah. I don’t care why or how young people find themselves with a ticket and turn up for the game, nor whether they or anyone else stays to the end. Young supporters are the life blood of any football club, we shouldn’t be labeling them as “not proper U’s supporters”. These young people are pretty savvy, is that what we want them to read online? We were all young kids once, and here we still are.
Mom was the commentator on the Sky format . No histrionics, informative, and fair to both sides, and never heard the word “ absolutely “ once.
Although busy Payne kept running into troubled areas and lost possession far too often, game too many for him, should have sat this one out, or shows how desperate DC has become in getting a positive result ( but Lyle cancer campaign is not included in the win scheme ). Gave the U’s MoM to the half Anderson played . Hopper again worked his a@se off up front. Let’s not get too optimistic in the result, Gunners side lost some to international call ups and the game a glorified training session for the Men from Essex against the young Guns.
A wins a win, if it results in Saturday three points all well and good .
The win was well deserved. However if we are to try and attract more supporters with the offer of free tickets we must get the whole offer right. The car park was a farce last night - the queues started on the A12 well before the slip roads and I for one gave up and went to park elsewhere despite having paid for a ticket. The last car entered the car park 30 minutes into the match. Once they had experienced the delays exiting the car park after the game I don’t expect they will readily return

To so.e extent Witham believe it was brought about because the park & ride carpark wasn't operational last night.

I believe there were problems on both the A12 and A120 yesterday afternoon/evening with the area around the stadium gridlocked which caused issues with the parking at the ground.

Was it not this competition which kicked off the Cowley's at Lincoln when they won it? Be happy if history repeats itself!
They took over at Lincoln prior to the 2016-17 season. They won The National League title in their first season, The EFL Trophy in their second and The League Two title in their third.
A run in this competition would be a welcome bonus providing it's accompanied by a climb up the league table.
Up The U's!

Agree about the commentary and also about Payne. I think that, although generally still playing well, he has started trying to do too much and has been losing the ball more often.

Fair comment Wessex. But I wonder if we will see any of them again.
There were 18 BSM Trophy fixtures on Tuesday, of which five had attendances under 1,000, including Wycombe v Crawley (723), Morecambe v Carlisle (788). The latter perhaps illustrates the fan lack of appetite for the competition.
Remarkably, the three best attended were…. Colchester v Arsenal 4265 (over 1,000 Arsenal). Lincoln v Man City. 3,055 Huddersfield v Man Utd 3,032.
I am now beginning to wonder if many that left early were Arsenal (or Ipswich) fans not wearing colours that had bought tickets in the South Stand. However, it defies logic that we had the largest gate of the evening by such a huge percentage. There were, however, patently large groups from local junior football, many of which seemed reluctant to participate in any way and most were glued to their phones.

Fair point Noah, and if they were there to say "I was there when the great [fill in name of choice] started his stella Arsenal career", on the evidence of last night, they're going to be disappointed. What I can't work out is why on earth the council didn't have the Park and Ride open - it was easy money, and it's not as if the club weren't saying ahead of the game that a big crowd was expected? Bradford City will travel in decent numbers, so let's see how many of the one-offs come back after (hopefully) enjoying a comprehensive 3-0 victory for the U's. Incidentally, because of the camera angle, facing an empty East Stand, I had no idea the crowd was so large.
Progression to next round - Tick Win - TIck Clean sheet - Tick More than one goal - Tick Good performance - Tick No new injuries - Tick Senior debuts for young players - TIck Decent crowd - Tick First goal on English soil for Egbo - Tick
