On the pitch ? on 10:49 - May 3 with 1499 views | hubble | Going on the pitch is a great British tradition, not just for Dicks, but for Toms and Harrys as well. I was on the pitch after the Palace 6-0 and after Leeds 2011, along with thousands of other fans. Wouldn't dream of it now, but I'm old git.

On the pitch ? on 20:39 - May 2 by blavod | Last time for me was the cup QF against Palace in 82. Way to old now. |
Last time for me was Villa away in 1968. We all cascaded down from the Holt End - the R's had taken it over - onto the pitch. By the time I could now get down from Row E in the South Africa Stand, it would probably be Sunday morning, so I won't ! [Post edited 3 May 2023 11:15]

The players should do a quick clap as they leave the pitch at the end of the game. I am not sitting around waiting for some lap of appreciation it’s just not appropriate …end of.

Still a bit upset the trophy didn't make it all the way around the ground when we won the title, because people once they'd seen it themselves selfishly spilled onto the pitch afterwards. It spent more time in front of the School End than it did in front of the Loft and SARS. Couple of years ago the council licensing people got very uppity about it and threatened us with big fine and games behind partially closed doors etc if we didn't sort it, club asked us to put out a plea for people to stay off, no idea if they've mellowed since but probs best not to find out. |
That's a shame. I'm guessing that the emotion of winning the title coupled with the stress of Faurlingate got the better of some folk. I vowed never to do it again after making a fool of myself at Highfield Road in 1996. When Gallen 'scored' in our 6-pointer against Coventry, I ran around like a headless chicken only to realise that it had been chalked off for offside. Luckily for me I made it back to the stands and the QPR faithful hid me from the stewards. Unluckily for us we went on to lose 1-0 and were subsequently relegated from the Prem.

Admittedly it would have been via the players entrance to the pitch, in kit, and escorting a mascot as part of the pre-game rituals. The Chef in goal with a back line of Bosh, Paddox, McCarthy, and Woking would, in my view, halt our leakiness. Now, you can all stand down.

we all done it when we were kids, kids are no different now. makes them feel special walking on the hallowed turf. nothing to celebrate, let the kids on with a football each and show the players where the net is.

They were almost unbelievable scenes weren't they? IIRC Marsh only had his jock strap left when he went off the pitch. The motorway was a sea of R's fans; my mate's dad who took us estimated around 13-14k R's in the ground for the game. One of my most cherished away days over the years.
