At high temperatures extra virgin olive oil burns and releases formaldehyde. Not recommended.

Its a myth, they want you eating their Soya/Palm/Rape "Blended" (processed) Veg oils!

Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Oil is full of too much goodness. However Dcuk of Goose Fat is ppreferred with Good Salt at every turn, along with Paprika and Garlic salt.

However i am intrigued about the Marmite suggestion, i have never heard of it, but think i might just be falling in love again 😍

Something to try. I did this for the first time last week and the spuds turned out a treat.

Brought spuds to boil and removed after 2 mins. Gave them a shake to rough them up in the collander, then sprinkled them with a teaspoon of flour and shook again to get them coated.

Put them onto a pan of hot oil which had been in the oven and cooked on top shelf at 350F for an hour (convection). Best result in years!

Full Fat Potatoes?

Took a bit of everyone’s advice.

Maris Piper (peeled), 15 minute par boil in salty water, scraped with a fork and knocked around the colander, splash of flour, dropped in hot goose fat, sprinkled flaky on, 45 minutes in the oven on 200c.

No rosemary otherwise would have added that and could have done with turning over a bit more hence the near to burnt brown splodges.

We go again.

Maris Pipers or King Edwards

Boil for 15-17 minutes no longer

Fill roasting tray with veg oil be liberal these babies need to swim in it

Heat for 10 mins before putting in

Drain potatoes in colander and then toss them in the colander like you are flipping pancakes to rough them rub - leave for five minutes to let oxygen do its thing, then put into the hot fat in the tray and roastingt for an hour

Bought some King Edwards and tried this exact recipe today Baz!

Wowzer… Total game changer … cheers matey 🤓👍

Always put rosemary on mine - other than that follow most of the suggestions on here, par-boil then fluff up and leave to cool. Usually use veg oil although at Christmas used goose fat which was even better.

Can't beat a good roast spud!
