My first (I think) match thread.
I have no clue which version of us will turn up.
I assume if there is a 'first' to be had for Reading, they will achieve it here, or if a player hasn't scored for 400 matches, he'll likely bag himself a brace in this game, or the first might be that they actually fill the stadium.
Nevertheless, I'm hoping, foolishly, that Sheff Utd was the new normal, and Fleetwood was the anomaly (albeit typical cup result).

I said it earlier, that this will feel like a win for the team and us. There is hope, where I could see none. We are a real Jeckyll and Hyde team...perfect for this league. I hope we start without Chris Willock next time out...he needs a rest to sort out his problems. Lowe sounds encouraging, and at last we have seen the real Tyler Roberts. Much better second half from us, more energy and willingness to go forward. Didn't think we were that bad first half but Lowe made a huge difference, you can see his quality. Kudos to Roberts for his brace, hopefully that will give him confidence to push on. Chair was brilliant I thought, always chasing, looking for space, taking players on. We need to find a central midfield partnership that works, though - Field and Tim I play too deep and leave huge gaps between the boxes. |  | | |

Bitter sweet. Having trailed 2-0 could have won against a mediocre team.

If only Willock could find some form but he's just a shadow of a few months back.
Lowe looks like he can make a difference.
Did we have four loan players on the pitch?
11 points clear of the bottom three.
So maybe we won't get sucked into a relegation battle after all.
A good run in this crazy division and who knows?
Field and hard-working Chair (although some of his crosses were poor) were impressive alongside Lowe and take a bow Roberts.
His first goal was superb.
That's a point worth its weight in gold.

Much better as the second half progressed. Why? We moved the ball quicker, that's why. Lowe was instrumental in that in setting up the first goal and from there we found a bit of mojo.
It's not rocket salad, and quite within our capability.

Yep, Tim wasn't great today. His previous flashes of skills and ability are far too infrequent and usually obscured by his silly errors. He'll be a very good player in the future but not, I'm afraid, for us this season.
4231 doesn't really suit him mind, but nonetheless Johansen will surely take his place next Saturday. |  | | |

Roberts took his first goal very well and was in the box for the second which was good. However, his overall play was, as usual, not that great even though everyone upped their game after the first goal including him.
We're not a side that can carry a player like Roberts who'll have occasional good moments and games. We really do need players who will be full on. | | | |
