My dad gone now as well. R.I.P. 13:35 - Dec 20 with 8249 views | Logman | Not an R but he took me to my first game (home v Stoke in 1974) and never ever stood in the way of me playing football or going to QPR. Always went out of his way to let me enjoy my football. Always supported me when I was running my Sunday football team. I remember when he came along when I wasn't feeling well in case anything went wrong and he came to support when we reached a Cup final at Sutton United FC in 2012. A Man City supporter all his life (brought up in Stockport) he died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday night at the grand old age of 92. R.I.P. Dad.

My dad gone now as well. R.I.P. on 18:27 - Dec 20 with 1650 views | denhamhoop2 | Sorry for your loss and sadly I know exactly where you are coming from having been told today that my Dad is on his way out and it's a case of when rather than if. In spite of him being a Brentford fan and despairing of my choice of who to follow has been genuinely been pleased when QPR win. A trip to Loftus Road was generally a Xmas or Birthday treat growing up but once I reached 10 or so was generally taken to games by an "Uncle" who followed Rangers
My dad gone now as well. R.I.P. on 18:58 - Dec 20 with 1628 views | CiderwithRsie | Sorry for your loss Logman. I hope you can take comfort from the fact that he made it to such a good age and that he went peacefully. Rubbish time of year to lose someone, but there's never a good time and at least this way every year when the family gathers you'll remember "absent friends."

My dad gone now as well. R.I.P. on 15:59 - Dec 21 with 1248 views | Logman | Thanks everyone again for your kind words. It means a lot. Yes, I was lucky to have a good dad and if I can put into action all your words about remembering him and doing him proud then that will go some way to making sure his legacy goes on. Thank you.
My dad gone now as well. R.I.P. on 19:43 - Dec 21 with 1191 views | numptydumpty | My condolences logman. 92 is great age to get to and glad for you, the old boy was around for you for so many years. I lost my mum in 2020 and dad went up to the football stadium in the sky last year. They were 78 and 82, but they were great parents for me in their different ways. Likewise dad took me first QPR game in 1980. He was more a rugby man but one of the things I found difficult to start with, was having been up to Loftus Road, I generally spoke him on phone that evening to usually chat about the tripe I had just witnessed and like you, despite not being massive fan, he was always interested to hear and followed Rangers results. It's great your dad lived a long life but anyone losing a parent if they been halfway decent, it's difficult for whoever it is. I still get the feeling both my folks pop in sometimes and I do still have the odd chat. My dad being the man he was, he still is always right until he wasn't and then there was a proviso !!!! Hope the great memories over the years give you comfort. I found it was all too easy focus on the end when obviously they were both struggling big time rather than the many good times. It does take time. But next time you get to watch the boys hope your old man can make sure we put in a performance. Thoughts are with you... [Post edited 21 Dec 2022 19:47]
