Not much good being a brilliant striker if you're sat on your arse for 18 months (which is what Barton got, and was described at the time as the minimum possible punishment they could have given).

You've sent me to work with a smile on my face, Northern!!

the whole I didn't bet against my own club argument is a steaming pile of turd as well. They work in the industry, know loads of people at other clubs etc.

TBF Barton did bet on his own club. If Toney has as well that'll be months, if not maybe a bit more lenient.

232 times? Shirley that's a ban for the season?

Smells like a trout farm in here

I wondered why he wasn't called up.

Feel sorry for him, as he's clearly addicted. And he clearly needs treatment

But, honestly....why not bet on other sports? Or use a friend's account?

He hasn’t been found guilty and as these cases take ages to reach a conclusion and a punishment dished out it’s fair to say he will see out this season.Find it strange that he was called up for the international friendlies when this has been going on for 18 months and his club where aware and so would have the England manager.

Yes, I was wondering that, which makes some of the comments on here somewhat premature.

Trippier got a 10 week ban for telling friends he was going to Madrid so they could bet on it so would imagine Toney will get a few months here.

True.

One way or the other, his value will have crashed.

There was a centre-forward called Toney
Who one day wagered a pony
On a game he was playing
It will remain scoreless he was saying
And spent the next 90 minutes impersonating Dean Coney

Had to get that out of my system.

Yes that’ll explain why he’s not going to the World Cup. Any ideas of what he can expect as a punishment if found guilty?

Depends how many bets, how large and what on.

Lesser punishment if on games he had no inside knowledge of.

Will increase if on games where he knew the players, up still further if on games he played in , up again if on games he played in, he bet on his team to lose.

Had to like that, DP, although I'm good friends with Dean Coney's cousin.

And no, she's never played for us as far as I know..

Does a Micky Mouse club like Brentford even tell their players that they cant bet on football? i doubt it.That might be his best defence.

We sold Les for £6m and got relegated, they will lose Ivan for nothing and could get relegated unless they find another elusive Prem striker. Which everyone is trying to do. As most end up being a Washout at Prem level as we know, we have had Washouts at Champ level too!

He will get 3 months, but not come back to being the same player. There will be a mental toll on him. He will then slip down to Champ level where he will get a nice contract with a relegated club and possibly come back as a bit player when they get promoted.

But his England career is over unless he turns into the next Harry Kane, otherwise Todd Kane's career beckons!

How do I know all of this, I read it in the Zodiac signs and 'honest Larry' told me down the pub.
So, conclusive proof as per the Internet standards of doubling down.

zzzzzzzzzz

Might be controversial on here but I don't hate Brentford.

In fact I have given feint admiration as how to get a small West London team performing and then competing reasonably well in the Premier League.

But their star man must surely be at least out for the rest of the season which could scupper their continued existence at Premier League level.

The way they improved with continued improvement in coaching staff etc after starting with Warburton.

Are we trying to emulate !!!!

We could end up relegated even if this hadn’t happened it’s very tight this season.Heard similar when Eriksen left us along with many others over the years Watkins Maupay ect but we have managed to replace and improve.I am more concerned that his present value of around 60 mill will take a massive dip if he’s found guilty.Unless he pleads guilty this could continue into the summer so wouldn’t impact this season.Don’t think you are trying to emulate our model.

That Toney 95th minute red card for booting the ball away 3 days before the end of his betting spree is probably just a co-incidence I'm sure.

I have seen this elsewhere and if true he will be banned for life.I like to think that someone doing that would need to be stupid as it would so easily be detected but then again I remind myself it’s a top PL footballer.

I don't think that anyone is charged until the investigation has been completed. I thought it was you, but it may have been NewBee, that stated previously in the thread that this has been ongoing for over a year.

Obviously, they would have to give Toney & his advisers time to build a defence, but they may have already provisionally booked a date for the hearing.

It would be interesting to know who made the complaint to the FA.

I heard it’s been going on for 18 months and the player and club were aware which brings other questions.I expect there is a very long list of suspects on who grassed him up when you look at the murky world these people live in.The more I hear about this the worse it gets captained the team Saturday as well.

While I don't have much faith in the FA it seems hard to believe they don't have substance behind the 232 counts. What caused him to stop though?

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
