I know it’s only early October, but if the unthinkable happens, and we get promoted, what do you think will happen?
Will the owners make a concerted effort to splash the cash to stay in the Premier League, or do they accept the big possibility that we’ll go straight back down, thus, buy sensibly and become a yo-yo club?
On Soccer Saturday yesterday when reviewing the Championship, they were saying that our owners are desperate to splash out, but can’t in the Championship due to FFP.
Personally, I’d want the very sensible approach, and accept that we’re going to be a yo-yo club at best.
I hate the Premier League with a passion. The only reason I really want us promoted is to clear debts. Bollocks to getting spanked every week.

Actually fair enough to consider that it could happen. For me it’s a balance. If we have a good enough team to go up the priority is to keep it together as far as possible. Big money would be needed to keep the loan players and improved contracts for ours. Then see. But for goodness sake no Forest Fires for us.

Buy the loanees where possible. Replace with like for like where it isn't . Striker, cover for FBs. That would be it for me. Take the money, give ourselves headroom under FFP for subsequent seasons, accept the yoyo model for the next two or three years. Aim to be sustaining ourselves in Prem by 2027/28.

Extend the contracts of players like Willock, Dieng, Chair, Paal, Dunne (and Dykes - if we go up, he will be involved in our success) on Premier League contract with a reversion to good Championship terms if we go down + a release clause if our valuation is met.
Bring in players like Laird and some decent Championship players like Adebayo…
…We’ll have a good chance of ending up lower mid table with the contingency plan that of we get relegated we’ll be a very strong Championship club next season with lots of Wonga through parachute payments and/or player sales at a good level…
What we will do:
Move Hoos and Ferdinand on. Bring Fernandez back to the table. Copy and paste Forests business model. Get relegated. Suffer a ten year hangover.

I think it will be a balance, not the supermarket sweep approach like the last time we were there but doubt we’ll take the money and run either, we’ll attempt to stay up.
I noticed Palace are fourth from bottom at the moment so if we pass them we can sign Eze back as well as pocketing the sell on fee.

Where?
Sorry… that sounded a bit negative; but money for the stadium isn’t necessarily the problem (it’s not factored into P&S restrictions)… the location/site is.

Okay as we’re playing the ‘What if’ game. What if we get promoted and Palace get relegated?
1. Should we buy Eze back?
And …
2. Would we still receive any sell-on money for him? Which quite frankly would be cunningly fiendish.
I don't think that we could afford the £80m that Palace would demand for Eze, over the next couple of seasons. That will be their minimum selling price I think.

If the valuation is £80 million we’d get £16 million for the re-sale. Therefore could we afford £64 million? I mean isn’t the Premier League parachute money £100 million shazillion?

1) Take the money 2) Keep the same team 3) Invest in Infrastructure 4) Pray for 17th
If we survive
5) Spend on hungry young Champ players
If we go down
5) Rinse the league and repeat
Avoid whole sale changes like the plague. Stick to the gem polishing plan. I always thought teams with low budgets could do well most years because you‘ll always have three financial basket cases below you.
I like the Southampton way of doing things.

Win the fecker.
Exactly. No pïssballing about worrying about 17th. Just get out there and win the thing with Sir Lyndon of Dykes scoring the winner to send North Battersea down.
We'd probably sack Mick Beale by Christmas and hire someone out of a job like Scotty Parker and buy a load of tossers because QPR twitter wanted to see ambition. At which point I'm out.

Are we saying that there is no FFP restriction in the Prem, and that the owners can just spend their own money on transfers, wages etc? Were there not questions asked recently about Man City regarding this?

That would be my worry too. We all saw what happened to Warnock. This team is still in the throes of its nascence but is gutsy and very promising. Just having a season knocking on the door would be a treat for me.
