Very interesting to see how this plays when the season starts. After the 19th does all this isolation stuff stop or relax as well? Because otherwise you're going to struggle to get a game on. Super League absolutely crippled atm, Hull haven't played for weeks, because of positive tests obviously but also this idea that anybody who's been near them needs to stay inside for ten days.

As far as i can work out, self isolation rules change on the 19th August

I think after the 19th July no-one has to isolate (especially with two jabs) so it would be treated as a flu outbreak and everyone who isn't feeling ill would carry on?

edit: Think the 19th August is for school kids' bubbles? Happy to be corrected.

I think they said something about relaxing the amount of pings people get from the app? Also that school kids won’t have to isolate unless they test positive. That’s all i’ve heard so far.

Self isolation ends for double jabbed and under 18`s on 16th August

I'm fairly certain that the rules are that if you have personally tested positive for Covid then you do have to isolate, and if you have had contact with someone that has Covid and you have had the two jabs then you will need to get a test within 2 days, if it is clear you don't have to isolate.

I'm not sure what the rules are for those that haven't had the jabs.

I've looked it up now (maybe I should have done that first!)

I was correct above, so the impact on matches should be the same as for any illness - if a player is actually ill then they can't play and will have to self isolate, anyone coming into direct contact with them, like their teammates won't have to isolate if they've had 2 jabs and taken a negative PCR test. They will then only have to isolate if they later develop symptoms and test positive later. If they haven't had two jabs they will have to isolate.

Is the game postponed or cancelled? It has to be one or the other.

Does leave a little gap in our pre-season plans.
I wouldn't be surprised to see another behind closed doors friendly being arranged.

Read somewhere recently that with the relaxation of rules from the 19th but not of the self-isolation rules until 16th August and throw into the equation the extremely virile Delta version that up to 4.5million of us could be self-isolating at any one point.

Nah, it'll only be 4,499,998 in self isolation as the Botski and Beasty aren't isolating or wearing masks, 'cos they're done with playing ball with regulations...

It is a serious Q around how the EFL will deal with outbreaks - will games be cancelled or forfeited where C-19 outbreaks happen?

Still not out of the woods here, are we?

Can we go out yet?

Brentford are in the same position as Gillingham.

Sutton were due to play The Bees tonight in their first PSF, but it has been cancelled due to Covid within the Brentford ranks. Sutton made immediate arrangements to play away to Chesham tonight instead.

I have no idea who Rangers could replace Gillingham with, but I expect there will be furter behind close doors fixtures.
