Idea from another thread for a Summer LFW Thread...
Not stuff you hate, stuff you just never had the love for, understood, saw the big commotion about...
Me? Never got The Clash. Ya, I can see the talent. Ya, I can see the coolness. Ya, I know there's a Rangers connection...but...I just don't GET them the way loads of you do. It's like I'm missing a gene!
And also, I never got Ice Cream. Tried it again yesterday. Don't see the fuss.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
Lol. Who could have foreseen that this thread would degenerate in to a load of grumpy old men moaning about 'rap'?
As far as musical form goes, I can't think of anything less inspiring than white boys with guitars, but there you go, each to their own. Late 90s underground UK hip-hop was one of the most vibrant and untainted music scenes of the past 50 years, bursting with ideas and creativity. A high-water mark was the magic-mushroom-fueled 'Great Outdoors' EP imo.

At the risk of completely hijacking the thread...
The lyrics to this are so clever, incorporating the names of 20-odd underground tube stations in to a strange, dreamlike narrative.
Tomato Ketchup Thai Food All Lager (unless it's brewed in Belgium) Adele Friends Any Reality Show Watford Footballl Matches played at unearthly hours to suit Sky Programming Sky (see above) Piccallilli Mild curries( Whats the point?) Oasis Show Jumping The Balearics
The joy of concourse - mobbing up under the stands, 50% of people filming each other, climbing onto your mates shoulders, you filming everyone from your mates shoulders, everyone throwing Carlsberg over each other and every other poor fu cker who just wandered down into the concourse for a half-time pie or piss. Even weirder when you've all previously been sat in near silence watching a shi t first-half. Bunch of absolute weirdo sheep who seem to enjoy half-time more than any other part of the game/day. It's bad enough when this is done by teenagers, but there are actually middle-aged blokes who knock about on the fringes too. Very strange.
People who throw beer at gigs too. How was the gig? Yeah, it was great; I threw a pint of beer up in the air!

Breathy, drippy acoustic cover versions. Like you get on John Lewis Christmas adverts. Basically taking a piece of music and homogenizing it into formless goo.
We are surrounded amazing music. There are thousands and thousands of incredibly talented singers out there and songwriters, musicians, composers, arrangers, sound engineers, recording engineers and producers.
So why the f.cuk does it all get reduced to a bloke fondling his knob whilst alternatively shouting and grunting the exact same note 2,000 times in a row whilst pretending to shoot someone.
It's about as enjoyable as root canal surgery but unfathomably popular.
WTF is WRONG with people?
This description makes it sound like you haven't actually listened to 99.9% of rap music
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Zidane was a marvellous player but he generally played in fantastic national and club sides. I honestly thought Nedved was best player of that era, he had to play teams on his own. Compare Zidane flaming out in the French disaster of 2002 with Nedved carrying the whole Czech team on his back in Euro 2000.

I saw Zidane live in New York, Roma v Real. Of course it was only a friendly, but he had a forcefield around him. Nobody could get close, he controlled the ball and moved it so effortlessly playing at his own speed in his own time. Beautiful player, even if perhaps not the most productive.
