Just caught a snippet on the news.
Says cash flow is a problem. They don't want any redundancies in staff but will have to cut back on the playing side.
Relegation clauses are in place but these don't come into effect until July hence cash issues.
I guess this might have come from an interview on STID last night.
I might have got this wrong but it sounded like jobs for the boys are safe. We cut the playing staff and don't expect any action until July.
Also what is he doing as club spokesman? Seems like anyone will do provided it is not Jenkins.
Did anyone hear the full interview?

How can anyone from the trust back then be trusted. Jim White denied that the sporting director received any form of payment knowing full well they did. Lies lies and more lies from everyone to do with the club

Not disclosing his remuneration was an error, a massive own goal. But surely the sellouts knew what they were doing. They must have known they were stitching him right up.

If only there was an audio recording of the Americans stating that they were told by the sellers not to mention anything about the sale to the Trust's representatives.

Because if it did exist, it would make this whispering campaign about certain former, and current, Trust reps look absolute nonsense.

So you think a Trust Supporter Director should be more tuned in than an MI5 spy then?

Think about what you're posting for god's sake man!

I just think a Supporter Director should be tuned in.

I don’t buy this Cooze stuff, he was clearly made the fall guy by both sides. Sounds like a nice chap but probably a chap that doesn’t belong in that type of world, wasn’t as switched on or aware as you would hope, I guess he was just coasting (a reason why these term times are so important but actually not adhered to). But if we are playing the blame game then he wouldn’t make my list.

I don’t know him and have only seen him at Trust forums when he was in office. I’d say your assessment is spot on from what I’ve seen. He was genuinely upset at that forum where it was announced that the Trust had been kept in the dark. Upset that people he considered friends, which is revealing in itself, had done this behind his back. I suspect that it wasn’t too difficult for them to hide it all from him.

No it's not, standard practice is a quick note/e-mail to say "Sorry on this occasion your application was unsuccessful". It's exceptionally poor business practice to give no response whatsoever

It's fairly common business practice to give no response whatsoever, not just the Swans. Have had customers apply for literally hundreds of positions in the past and get no more than a handful of acknowledgements.

I haven't got a version of events any more clearer than anyone else Bony. But what i do know is that Huw Cooze was an innocent pawn in this game. A great fella, who thought that being mates and socialising with them was nothing other than a genuine friendship. Why would he have cause to think otherwise? Huw is one of us, and nothing anyone says on here would convince me otherwise.

"Why would he have cause to think otherwise?"

A sense of propriety?

He was on the clubs board to do a job, and one he failed spectacularly at. I well remember the times he was on here defending some of the clubs initiatives against the ire of the fans when what he should have been doing was the exact opposite.

You can't be friends with people you're supposed to be watching on behalf of others. If he had been more suspicious and less chummy then perhaps they might not have managed to arrange a takeover while he remained oblivious.

You raise some very good points.
Going back many years, I always found it strange that Jenkins stopped sending out automatic Trust memberships with the Season Tickets. It always raised suspicions with me that he was not as supportive of the Trust as I expected him to be.

Jenkins has never been supportive of the Trust. Back in the early days the relationship between the two was often combative.

Which, to be fair, was all he ever said when he was commercial director too.

Of course it wasn't. He was probably only in their company for a substantial amount of time on a Saturday plus a couple of hours here and there during the week at board meetings or whatever. There was ample time for the sellouts to discuss things well out of his earshot, particularly with millions at stake.

He used to travel to away games with Jenkins - so what? A couple of hours in the car, probably with others in the back, the early game or some other stuff on the radio - plenty of ways to avoid an awkward conversation. I've been told things by friends that they don't want other friends to know so, guess what - I don't tell them, even when I'm in the car with them for 2 hours driving to a game.

I've never even spoken to Huw Cooze - he was gone from the Trust Board by the time I got involved - so have no real idea about him as a person but to suggest that "there is no way he couldn't have known" is just garbage.

Is this interview online anywhere or at least the transcript?

My guess with the old Supporters Director and the Trust Board is the answer lies somewhere in between.

Cooze was far too cosy and Jenkins and Co had him exactly where they wanted him. He was on more than a good thing at the Club so if he needed to turn the other cheek, he was more than capable of doing that.

The Trust Board who knew of Cooze's tie ins to the club with his printing business, pretty much his sole income, oh, and the £40k they were chucking him as well, were negligent in the EXTREME to not just allow this to continue....

......But to CONSTANTLY LIE to their members and supporters at large that his obvious conflict of interest wasn't a problem, and that he wasn't receiving any money from the Club for his Director role

This was a true disgrace and then they went onto fire Cooze because of this.

When the first set of Americans left the building the Trust knew there would be more coming along.

What you do then is make hostile and important decisions to safeguard the future of the club.

You don't leave a man in there so heavily indebted to the sellers.

The way the sale was conducted was all on the Trust, no matter how sneaky and underhand the sellers went about it. The Trust should have done what they're there for.

Instead they watched it happen over a period of around 6 to 12 months and then made excuses.

And it's not as if they weren't warned. Both from the first set of Americans and the COUNTLESS threads made on here BEGGING them to do something.

Never forget this.

This was the Trust’s fault more than his personally though. The term times completely ignored and also the situation that was at hand was made clear to them with no action. Cooze was then thrown under the bus when sh*t hit the fan. He shouldn’t have been in the position for the length of time he was in order to get friendly with them, the fact he did is just human nature more than anything sinister. He shouldn’t have been put in the position he was.

Was he also unaware of the £40.000 that went into his bank account, whilst the trust was telling us that it was expenses only, and isn't that why the vice chairman of the trust resigned.

That's the way I remember it, I'd be happy to be corrected.

The Trust board fecked up badly. It is not good enough for the supporter director to be squeaky clean, they have to be seen to be squeaky clean.

I don’t know whether Cooze did or didn’t know about the sale and I doubt if many if any on here do. However his business and club paid supporter liaison work meant that he could not be seen to be squeaky clean. The pay did not go through the Trust and once it got to serious money his supporter director role was untenable.

The Trust board failed to understand that anyone looking in from the outside would see serious problems with the dual roles and failed to be open and transparent when details came out.

Anyway- back on track with the thread, anyone have any ideas what championship clubs pay their chairman, vice chairman and whatever Pearlman does? I haven’t seen anything to suggest that those 3 will adjust their salaries to take into account relegation. Did Dineen mention anything about their pay when he talked about having to make cuts?

i seem to recall Jenkins was getting a £250K bonus for staying in the Prem.

However, from memory that was on top of his £500k basic salary.

I'd be surprised though if he doesn't voluntarily take a cut in line with player relegation clauses; £350K pa still excessive?

I cast no aspersions of any complicity on Mr Cooze. Maybe I’m giving too much credit to our esteemed former board of “fan” shareholders, but it looks like a “divide and conquer” sort of scheme from the start. Is it too much off a stretch to think they’ve being trying to undermine the trust from the early days knowing what we know now?
