Negative tactics, negative results. 19:39 - Apr 22 with 7139 views | swanseajack97 | Before I say this I just want to say that Carlos has done a great job since arriving at the swans and has helped us get out of the clement nightmare we endured this season. However, that is not to say that the last 6 weeks has been extremely questionable tactically and mentally. I will use the example of the West Brom game away from home. We clearly set up negatively and let the side who are relegated play the ball and dominate us showing very little attacking intent in till however they score and we realise we actually need to score a goal. And that’s when we start to attack get the goal only to go back to negative defensive tactics and let them dominate the last 15 or so minutes. If Carlos had done his research prior to this game it was clearly obvious that the only chance to get a result against Man City is to press the defensive and play with attacking intent. This is clearly shown in both games against Liverpool and Man United in the second half. And yes, of course they are better sides than us but you can also look at what Crystal Palace did to them where they played with no fear and got a point (and a last minute penalty to win it). If the gameplan today really was to sit back and just play for a draw I would be stunned, if there is one team you don’t want to allow the ball it is Man City with KDB and silva in midfield. I am not even asking to get a result against City because of course they are a far better side, my point is to at least try to attack and make them panic and maybe test our luck and see what we could do. To sum it up, playing for a low score line like we did today and still conceding 5 is not only a disgrace to the club, it is also a disgrace to the traveling fans who believe it or not actually paid money to see that game today despite it being on tv. To play 54 passes in the first half is unacceptable and the Swansea way is being eroded every time we play like that. In my opinion, like what Monaco did a few weeks back every fan who went to the game today deserves a refund!

Negative tactics, negative results. on 20:25 - Apr 22 by lifelong | This season may be slightly different though, we play Chelsea at home next who still have an outside chance of a top 4 position, then our next home games are against Southampton and Stoke who will probably have to beat us to stay up and by doing so could send us down. Will we cope with that type of pressure? |
Unbelievably pathetic. BOOOOO!!!!!!

Negative tactics, negative results. on 20:43 - Apr 22 by lifelong | Correct me if i’m wrong but didn’t you say you were angry after the West Brom game? We blew a chance a beating them because we were so negative. |
Anger is understandable in any moment. I was going mad today with Ki for standing still at the pen, with Carroll when the ball came over to him in the corner of the box and he tried to chest it and was robbed far too easily. With Andre Ayew in the first half for not coming to the ball, wanting too much time, not being aware of how quick the game was, again in the second half the same when De Bruyne scored that screamer, that was Ayew's fault, a completely needless goal to concede. There was many things I was angry with, but inthe context of who we are versus them, the bigger picture is we've been given a lifeline by Carlos and we need to put things into perspective, contain our anger and take it out on the rest of the world, not little old SCFC who have been for years defying the odds to give you memories that will never, ever be repeated and last a lifetime. Get behind the boys FFS and stop looking for every single negative to chip, chip chip away at the Club. We've got 4 more chances to probably get one more win.

If that's what forums are then that's what will drip feed into the stands for our 3 home games and if you think it doesn't then you're just taking a risk in believing it doesn't. Because if I said it was scientifically proven to do that maybe you'd change your approach Carlos has spent 4 months trying his damnedest to instill positivity into the players. He even came out and begged the fans to stay with the team and support for the Everton game. When there's a loose pass or something doesn't come off, we need the support more he said. You're drip feeding us into relegation. How some can't see this is beyond me.

Come on FFS, I’m drip feeding us into relegation.. what sort of crap is that? What’s drip feeding us into relegation is the negative way we set up on the pitch, especially away from home, making it virtually impossible for us to score enough goals to win a football match.

Here comes another one to prove my point. It's never the one drip that causes the problem. But they're constant, and many, over and over, from Lifelong to Flaps, they're all chipping away at our survival chances. Argue all you want against it, you're just sticking two fingers up to your own football club.

I can see further than the clubs survival and I am fighting against the disease within our club. If going down means getting rid of Jenkins and co then so be it. So ultimately I am fighting for my club and not skipping down the garden path whistling "if your happy and you know it..."

Negative tactics, negative results. on 22:16 - Apr 22 with 1500 views | Swanseaman | TheResurrection I see as the most negative poster who constantly tells everyone that they are being negative but the opposite is true. I posted yesterday a 100% positive post how we should get at Man City and try not to give them time and space on the ball. I got shot down in flames for my positivity. But if we can see that our team is playing nagatively away from home, if it's becoming noticable that these negative tactics are making us play worse away from home (even playing too defensively against West Brom). pointing this out out is not being negative. The same as defending negative tactics is not being positive. We only just managed to get the draw when we parked the bus at Huddersfield, they almost scored near the end when Ince's late effort hit the upright, and Fabianski made a great save to stop a shot that was goalbound from Mounie. That's how close it was against a team of similar ability. Trying that same tactic against top teams, we will never get results playing that way. I see it as a big backward step. When Carlos has the team playing attacking positive football, we are a much better team. We were known for our possession football and keeping hold of the ball. The new away tactics of sitting back and letting other teams get at us, it's not our best way of playing, it is playing in a highly negative way, and no amount of defending this way of playing can make it positive.

Well said...he must be a person that is just happy to be alive and anything is a bonus! We all want a team to be proud of..not that takes 75 mins to get their first shot against the bottom team(WBA). Not that is happy to take a beating in the FA cup QF against Spurs cos its an inconvenience. Not that cant beat lower league sides away(Wolves,Notts County,Sheff Wed) Not that is happy to be battered away against a poor Hudds team as we have a man less Not that is happy to be the first team to have over 1000 passes against them and 18% possession. After 7 seasons we really must be better than this and there are many reasons is there is nit the passion right at the top to plan forward. Seems like fight the flames will be the way until we can fight no more. Show some ambition FFS..no ones talking about top 10 here either.

It was embarrassing to watch on motd. And to find out that a 19 year old Phil Foden, managed to complete more passes than any Swansea player, in the 19 minutes he was on for. Then I notice that Fabianski has 9pts on fantasy football because he made 7 saves. So if he wasn't on excellent form it could have easily been 10 or more goals against us. We were slaughtered today. But we are better than this, Carlos is better than this, and we can still get some good games before the end of the season. Pointing out that it's better to ditch the negative tactics and better to play to our strengths is not being negative, it's trying to inject positivity into our play, to help us stay up. Well that's wrong as well as Naughton had 28. But that just sums you up and the way you see football. You see the tip of the iceberg and think you can sail over it. You dive in two feeted and blurt out a load of bollocks and you end up convincing yourself you're right. You don't get the game, it's passed you by... Back to your cock ups........
