Anyone with a f*cking brain cell could have predicted how our "recruitment" team would have spaffed away the Sigurdsson money. The deal was excellent in a vacuum but, of course, most of us are on planet earth and not in outer space.

Always was an absurd narrative that he's a one trick pony or can't play in a free-flowing side, concocted by dribbing agenda-driven idiots. In an "average" performance where he didn't do much, he still buried us with a moment of quality that not a single one of our players is remotely capable of.

Laudrup wouldn't have touched him with a barge pole.

He's suited to Sam Allardyce and he's got a strike on him. He's still nowhere near the player Everton wanted or need and the £45m for a player who refused to play for us was the best bit of business this club has ever done.

Now onto the replacements, if Clement had been playing Mesa, and I even think, Clucas from the start in their rightful positions we'd be firmly entrenched in mid table by now. As that's only 5 points or so away.

5 points AT LEAST Clement has spunked away. Anyone with a brain cell blah blah blah should be able to see that as well.

Another £20m in January can still save us I think.

Well that’s pretty much it.

£45m for a player who was desperate to leave and not worth £45m was a no brainer. With hindsight though, you are right, it’s hardly a surprise we screwed the recruitment up.

Your last sentence is bang on. We don’t have a single player who could have scored from there. We’ve got no game changers.

Fair enough but what will £20m get us in January as most will agree we're at least 5 players short..

It’s been a recurring theme since the summer, in fact you could probably stretch it back further.

Forget the timescale then. You’re more concerned with someone getting something wrong on a website than the state of our club.

Looking on the other side of that, our players should have known what to expect off him, but let him cut across the box, not only that they stood off him, quality strike or not, that's my opinion anyway, another point though is that our players weren't good enough to close him down or stop him.

Of course, Max. He and Rooney were given acres all game but did little with. The midfield was an abomination today. Mesa looked like he was playing there alone at times, no wonder he was angry.

Mesa is a total and utter liability, he was committing fouls for no reason, at one stage it was a concern if he would get himself sent off, then he gave a needless penalty away right on halftime, if the Swans had gone in 1-0 up at the break Swansea might have won, where was Mesa for Gylfi's goal ?, the was a huge hole in centre midfield in the build up to the goal, he supposed to shield the back four particular the central defenders, the ball made its way to Gylfi out wide who then cut infield, but yet again where was Mesa ?
Mesa has no ability, he does not create goals or score goals, if he is giving penalties away and not shielding the defence then he is a liability and should not be in the team.

Stop talking utter shite again pal.

I didn't want to single him out in my summary earlier as I thought he had a decent game tonight, and scored, but it was Fer FFS who left that gap. Mesa was perfectly in position. Some people just can't see the wood from the trees when it comes to analysing football but throw in these pointers like they're facking Archimedes or something.

The foul just before the pen was something and nothing, they happen, if you've played the game there's nothing you can do about them from time to time, and the pen you can't solely put down to him. It was a nothing throw in and Lennon has just been allowed a free run into our box while Mesa was picking up Rooney.

Tom Carroll this evening had the ball in excellent attacking positions on at least 3 occasions. A good attacking midfielder would have attempted to push forward, maybe beat a man, then have a strike on goal.
You could tell that he just didn’t have the ability or confidence to do it.. very poor performance from him this evening, the main problem is we’ve got no one else.

I totally agree with this, I was screaming for Clucas to have a chance all second half. Again, Clement has ruined him.

Swansea have got more points than they deserve that is why I was saying months ago (combined with Palace having less points than they deserved at the time) that Swansea were the worst team in the league.

Brendan did though and he was fantastic. Laudrup had Michu.

Yeah like I said fantastic business in a vacuum and sadly irrelevant when close to £45m of the club's money has been spent on Baston, Clucas, Caroll and (half) a season of Renato Sanches.

Pure conjecture in the third paragraph. As good as Mesa looks he still makes critical errors.

If buts and maybes from someone looking increasingly wrong with every passing a day. Just a shame it's at the expense of the club. Maybe you can write an email to Clement with your views? I'll offer my proof-reading services, I'm sure they'll be needed.

He's got to given his chance on that left side of midfield now surely, Carroll seems to be lost at the minute, lack of confidence to much pressure I don't know, but he's not enjoying his football and its affecting him, understandable with the position we're in yes, but you get my point I'm sure.

Disagree completely about Mesa and certainly Clucas. Mesa keeps giving goals away, that wasn't 'luck' going against us tonight. Mesa clumsily fouled Lennon and a foul in the box means penalty. It was a lazy clumsy challenge. As for Clucas, he's not a Premier League player. I wish he was and I'd love to see Mesa controlling games but he hardly got into the game tonight.

I don't think we are. I think 3 new players in there tonight would have made a winning difference. The worry is Bony's bloody hamstrings.

1 winger at least and someone with pace, energy and drive in the middle of the park that could bring Tammy into play more, would be a good place to start.

That really is a magnificent post.

Selling Gylfi for that amount really was too good to turn down...IF we had a recruitment team who could get us players that would play a passing and possession game. It was obvious to most though that we'd spunk it on players such as Clucas. In that regard, Gylfi was worth more than the amount he went for, because he pretty much kept us up almost single-handedly with his goals and assists.

Poll: Decision day - who wins the PL title?

Over to you Box Office on 23:35 - Dec 18 with 1315 viewslondonlisa2001

Two things I do not understand. First is people being unable or unwilling to separate selling Siggy for £45m (brilliant business) with not doing it early enough and not spending it properly (shocking business).

Secondly is people saying they've completely given up. We are utter crap at the moment. Clueless, a weak squad and a weak manager. But if we win on Saturday (and I think we may well do), we turn with 15 points.

Same again and we get 30 points. We only need to find an additional 7 points before chances are we stay up, and that is 7 points more than our utterly crap, clueless, weak squad and hopeless manager have gained.

It's obviously not looking good, but it's not the write off some seem to think.

We have to get in three or four players though. Week after next. Winger. Attacking creative player. Full back. And if Bony is going to be in and out with injury, we need another striker. Tammy isn't the answer as a starting player at this point.

Ok then to flip that, had Mesa not attempted to tackle him Lennon was bursting into the penalty area with no one within 10 yards of him. That's where the big error has come from, not necessarily Mesa doing his best to stop him.

Lennon being allowed that run?? Nah, that's the bit that's annoyed me from a culpability perspective.

Funny though, since Clement has gone out of his way to single out Mesa and this from the start of the season, we don't half have some posters that have swallowed all that up and now will never see Mesa in a different light again.

I like him a lot, I can put up with the odd mistake here and there as he tries to get us playing. Naturally I wish they wouldn't occur but I feel he is just a bit down on his luck currently and a lot of this has been down to the in and out start he's had here at Swansea.

He's a footballer - we need more of them. Simple as that.

Mesa has done less than half of one season in a new country and league, yes he has made mistakes but for me his is the first name in the team sheet. One player that is always pushing forward and actual gives a fûck.
