Over to you Box Office on 20:41 - Dec 20 by E20Jack | They were a one off specialist buyer. He was not worth £45m and that was not his true market value. His true market value is what he would reach on the open market in general terms. Everton will not be able to get sell him for £45m as they were the only club who felt they would pay that. So he is not worth that. Maybe he was technically for a split second as the papers were in the process of being signed - immediately after he is no longer a £45m player. Which is why we got a great price. |
Was Mo Salah a €42mIllion player when Liverpool bought him in the summer and has his value depreciated?

You are yet again discredited for not accepting facts because they don't fit with your agenda, Gylfi was signed for a reported £45M, therefore that was his market value and as for other suitors another team was said to have offered £40M for him.

His value has increased massively. If he was on the market for 42m euros now, do you reckon he would sell to a multitude of clubs? (yes is the answer) So hes worth it. I didn't follow his career at Roma so couldn't tell you if they overpaid or not at the time of signing. I know nobody would pay £45m for Gylfi though. which is probably more appropriate to the point.

Nothing is discredited Tramp. They offered £40m but it was reported that it wasn't in actual reality anywhere near due to the staged payments and clauses on the never never. If we were on a sliding scale of actual cash, then I think we would have to go down to around £32m before you would get a normal buyer. (I have no agenda btw, I liked Gylfi - he just had to be sold). Nearly all big transfer payments are staged, he is a £45M footballer, Everton thought he was, Swansea thought he was worth at least that, Leicester valued him close to that, I valued him as being worth those kind of values also for what it's worth, if you E20 don't think he is worth those kind of sums that is up to you, but don't try and make out nobody thought he was worth that kind of money because the reality was he went for that kind of money and the people that matter thought his value was around that mark eg the buying club, the selling club and another potential suitor .

You mean staggered? Or amortised to use the official term? I was not referring to the amortisation of a player. That happens in almost all deals. I was referring to clauses, like Bayern have to pay up to 90m euros for Renato Sanches if he triggers his, the fact they are performance related makes that immediately unlikely. If I bought your bellybutton fluff for a million quid then went to get it professionally valued, do you think they would say it is worth £1m or say I am an idiot and overpaid for a worthless piece of lint? Surely you would not claim it to be worth a million just because some mental person paid it? That falls into specialist sales. No other person on the world would buy it for that, because that is not its true worth. Not sure how else to put that simpler.

Leicester was prepared to pay a similar amount, other teams might also have paid a similar amount if preferred team Everton were not in the running. Gylfi £45M footballer.

Leighton WAS a good (ish) footballer but no world beater. Every public pronouncement he's made has always been governed or clouded by emotion and a touch of sentimentality.
