Lovely photo.

World class bowler.

Best cricket ground in the world ❤

You might think I've forgotten, but one day, when you least expect it, my time will come.
Poll: Celtic and Rangers should be fast tracked into the Championship ASAP

Agreed.

What an amphitheatre it could have been for international cricket.
A little imagination could have made that into a 15000 seater with a wrap
Around stand from the rugby terracing through to the bar. Smaller upgraded
stand at the city end. Upgrade the pavilion area.
Plenty of scope for hospitality. Move Swansea RFC/Ospreys to Singleton Park with a bespoke 8k ground. Use the Liberty for the big games

Just finished Steve James’ autobiography Third Man To Fatty’s Leg.

Outstanding and a must read for any cricket fan. Beautifully written and full of humour and humility. Great insights into the great and not so great Glamorgan teams and players.

I agree but it is 30 years too late. It should have been offered when Glamorgan was looking for its own ground. The rugby club could have been moved to a ground share at the Vetch. It is now too late as they have spent millions on Sophia Gardens. At the time Swansea Rugby club were all powerful in St Helens and were planning to take over running of the ground with Swansea council agreement. They had plans to turn the pitch around 90% and play from the sea end towards the clubhouse. The old bank was being demolished and there were going to be netball courts placed there. The late George Clement was totally disbelieving when they said the bank was unsafe. He was saying it was solid concrete below.

Glamorgan spent years looking for a site to have their main ground. There were sites looked at in Cardiff, Bridgend, Pontypridd, Port Talbot and Swansea but St Helens was only available as a ground share which was never feasible. It would have meant times when Cricket wouldnt have been able to have played, The outfield would never have been of the necessary standard ant there wasn't the space for the indoor and outdoor nets. This would have needed to be placed on the rec and the council wouldnt have agreed to that.

I loved Viv and Waqar. However, my pick is very left field in Marnus Labuschagne. This weather would have seen him go from strength to strength.

Marnus Labuschagne enjoyed a breakthrough season at Glamorgan in 2019, and by the time the new decade came around he was the hottest name in world cricket.

Having signed originally as overseas player for the first half of the campaign, Labuschagne ended up signing on for a further two years after an eventful season that saw him make history as he became the first ever concussion substitute in Test cricket.

He finished the County Championship campaign with 1,114 runs at an average of over 65, with five centuries and five half-centuries. He also became the first player since Jonathan Hughes in 2005 (vs Middlesex) to hit twin centuries in a game when he crashed two rapid centuries against Worcestershire.

After his exploits in the County Championship, he was called up to the Ashes squad and replaced Smith at Lord's after the Australian talisman was felled by an Archer bouncer and eventually ruled out. A like-for-like replacement in more ways than one, thanks to their leg-spinners and idiosyncrasies at the crease, Labuschagne too was floored facing just his second delivery. He eventually finished as Australia's second highest run scorer in the series before cementing the coveted number three spot as his own in the Australian summer, hitting two centuries (including a career-best 215) and three half-centuries in six knocks against New Zealand, and two centuries in the two innings he played against Pakistan.

Labuschagne signed on for the 2020 and 2021 seasons late in the autumn of 2019, stating, "I'm absolutely rapt to re-sign and come back to Cardiff for another two years. I love the city and loved playing for the club. The boys were incredible and I felt part of something special."

Wiki description:

‘In April 2019, Labuschagne signed for Glamorgan County Cricket Club for the 2019 English cricket season. He made 1,114 runs in his first County Championship season, including three centuries in his first four first-class matches - one of which was a then career-best 182 against Sussex in a Glamorgan record second-wicket partnership of 291. He was the second-highest scorer in the Second Division of the County Championship, despite only playing in ten matches, and topped Glamorgan's batting averages with an average of 61.89 runs per innings. He also took 19 wickets with a bowling average of 38.11.[24] In November 2019, he re-signed for Glamorgan for the next two seasons following his performances in the 2019 Ashes.’

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

Labuschagne would have thrived as so far this season Glammy wouldn't have lost a single day's play thanks to the fine weather.

And to think he turned down 8-10 other counties this season as well
