Ooh too many to mention, but a quick name check for House Of The Rising Sun, Anarchy In The UK, Love Spreads, What Difference Does It Make and Ant Music. But if you tied me to a chair and forced me to pick I'd go for this little beauty....

Remember Duran Duran's version?
never heard that version - a brave effort covering a classic and it starts really well but not sure I like the vocals. I've put this on threads a couple of times but it is another good intro and an intro quiz for those with 20 plus minutes to spare - not sure how many are classics

My faves are:- Apache - The Shadows. Hank Marvin's Fender intro is a classic.
Roxette - Dr Feelgood. Basic, but hard hitting.
Lucifer Sam - Pink Floyd. As with Roxette.
I Don't Know Why - The Rolling Stones. Their cover version of a Stevie Wonder song is superb. One of Mick Taylors earliest sessions with the Stones, actually recorded the night Brian Jones died. Taylor probably never played a better intro in his long career imo.
So What - Miles Davis. The opening piano bars of this jazz classic is probably the most haunting intro I have heard. I think it's my all time favourite. I often play the intro over and over again. Gets me every time.
