The trouble is what do England do next? i belive their turning to youth is a good policy, Robson, Balance, Root and now Ali have all shown some fortitude and skill in this series. the weakest link in the batting was Cook. But if you drop Cook as captain, do you also drop Cook the player?
And if you do drop Cook as captain, who takes over? i hate seeing bowlers as Captain, but Bell hasn't really shown Captainlike leadership in his 100 caps and the others are too green. Prior is vice captain, but he's playing for his place too!
Plus the management have gone all in on Cook in the KP issue, so have they basically shafted themselves in the process?
Some positives in this short series. Robson, Balance and Moin (bat and ball). Jordan has also been ok and Plunkett much improved.
I think Cook needs a rest as skipper, partly because he is such a poor skipper, but, I think he fits the whole Moores/Flower mould, plus, with the Peitersen business they have nailed their colours to him.
After a bad morning on a terrible bowling wicket, two thunderbolts after lunch. Hope England can carry this on, Cook and England need some positive results.

What an awful pitch , we should be using our home advantage and trying to produce bouncy wickets not produce a surface that wouldn't look out of place in Calcutta

Because we never seem to have a plan it's either too short or too full
Lets hope when we bat we don't just bat for the draw , bowling them out for 420 on that pitch is still a decent effort
But thats the point, its not like it is rare to bowl to tailenders yet we never seem to have a fcking clue as to what to do. It's infuriating, they should have been done for 370 at the most.

We've developed a real problem of late in getting the tail out. It wags mightily at us every bloody test these days. We could have had this lot under 400. Instead we have an 80 partnership and not one bowler seems to know what to do.

Alastair Cook is having a mare, what England and the selectors are going to do about him gawd knows, currently he's hardly worth his place in the team let alone opening for and captaining England. Maybe drop him to number 5 or 6 in the batting? one things for sure if he gets dismissed cheaply in the second innings then something will have to be done. Feel for the bloke personally.
