Led Zepp in trouble for plagiarism on 11:19 - May 21 by Discodroid
so called superstar DJ'S have been plagiarizing dance music since fischer price bought out decks for toddlers.
makes me sick to see any tool with the tools ripping of soul, funk dance music under the guise of sweedish house maffia of calvin harris or whatever they fk there called.
the old school boys paid there dues and picked up the pint pots at the end of the night and tried to break new genres of music before some bright spark decided it would be a good idea to throw £5000 per set at some one who took 5 years to learn how to beat mix,.
A girl I used to work with a decade ago was a "deeejayyyyy" and we took great delight in winding her up. She just couldn't see that all a deeeeejayyyy was is someone playing SOMEONE ELSE'S music. She kept going on about having talent and having to 'feel the vibe of the crowd'.
Fk right off.
Talent? PMSL, the talent is with the artists, not some dick in a pair of sunglasses (indoors) spinnming some choooons. Secondly, the crowd are probably so off their t*ts you could play Aga-Do and they wouldn't care.

And then play "I'm A Man" by The Yardbirds or the original by Bo Diddley.
Well I suppose you do call into question cover versions.Silly people really, all it would have taken would be an acknowledgement I suppose and a small fee - would have saved a lot of this sheeeit.
Blob, I reckon the artists get paid handsomely for having their music sampled in these tracks. There are some pretty good ones from bygone era that worked pretty well.

" I guess in four or five years, the new generation's music will be .. electronics, tapes. I can kind of envision .. maybe one person .. with a lot of machines, tapes, and electronics setups, singin or speaking .. and using machines " James Douglas Morrison | 1969

Just now listening to Chris and Debbie's program from Sunday on Radio 6 Music on iPlayer whilst working, and the second record they play is "I'm Waiting For The Man".
They introduce it as "basically 'rip her to shreds', and hope [they] don't get sued..."
And when they play it, gor blimey tis true...
Well I never noticed that before...

This sort of thing has been going on for a long time in the world of music and few claimants ever win. Many songwriters are known to borrow riffs or make them sound similar to others sometimes without even knowing it. Not until the song or tune is played do they realise it sounds like someone elses work. Many musicians will just cite that they were influenced by others with no intended plagiarism meant. I think the Kinks kicked up a bit of a stink towards The Doors, when the latter wrote Hello I Love You which 'borrowed' the same riff as the Kinks All Day and All of the Night. Not sure if anything came of it.
The Doors also "borrowed" Al Kooper's "House In The Country" intro for their title track on - "L A Woman". It's the piano bit before the "I see your hair burning" verse.
Al recognised his riff straight away and threatened to sue The Doors. They told him it was a homage to his song writing skills, and suddenly he was all grateful to them for the recognition.
Bet you don't get knowledge like this posted on the Chelscum or Manure fans shyte. That's what makes this site so special. Most of the posts here are phoook hall to do with phooot ball, and all the better for it.

Blimey, this thread has got to be a year or two old!
Izlingtonhoop, I see you down-voted my comment about DJ's. Care to elaborate?
I stand by my statement that they just play someone elses music and are being paid huge amounts to do so and being revered as god-like status. Just seem OTT to me.

On a documentary on Kurt Cobain I was watching the other day a talking head pointed this out:
at 29 seconds there it is.
Smells like Jeyes Fluid..
Wow, I've never made that connection before. More Than A Feeling is one of those all time "guilty pleasure" numbers, isn't it? Cobain always said "I was basically ripping off the Pixies", by which he probably meant "Debaser".

Cobain was well aware of the similarity …

Maybe Izlingtonhoop didn't care for your generalisation Juzzie?
I've DJ'ed for a long long time, hate the limelight and don't wear sunglasses. I'll never claim to be talented either. However, I'll look back at my last gig two weeks ago when I had 400 people going loopy in front of me and thinking, 'well that's a job well done'. Oh and by the way, if I did play Agadoo, I wouldn't have liked my chances of getting out the place alive.

No idea.
Maybe I was just looking to see who had voted it up, and hit he wrong button. Maybe I just thought it was a bit shouty and had taken a drink myself.
Reading it a year on I neither agree nor disagree with most of it. Although I do think there is a knack to reading the crowd - feeling the vibe - whether strongly enough to down arrow, not sure.
Edit: I just looked up. We had a brief PM conversation about it at the time...
