Dale grab an extra Ball
Dale grab an extra Ball
Wednesday, 31st Aug 2011 20:58 by Col

Without a SSN reporter camped outside Spotland with a backdrop of pre-pubescent acne ridden youths, Dale have added to their ranks by bringing in Peterborough striker David Ball on loan.

Ball has been a regular at Posh this season, and has scored three goals for the London Road side. He joined Peterborough earlier this year from Manchester City after impressing at Swindon on an earlier loan spell.

Reports on him are highly positive and he is well known to Steve Eyre having scored the winning penalty in the City Youth's 2008 FA Cup win. The 21 year old is likely to go straight into the starting line up for this weekend's game at Stevenage.

Ball brings Dale's loan tally up to six. Football League rules stipulate that we can field up to a maximum of five loan players in a matchday squad.

Looks like the first positive output from SE's City link.
Hope he plays ahead of the dummy from Luton................

The O/S actually says 1st December which could be worrying for our December fixtures.

Don't understand why we haven't signed him outright. His pedigree looks excellent and we are sitting on the income from O'Grady and the other transfers/ windfalls we have enjoyed this season which must come to at least £750k...
I can understand why the other City youngster is only on loan as he is still unproven at League 1 level. Still think we need a proven/hard tackling midfielder.

We haven't signed him outright probably because he is quite well thought of a posh. 3 in 3 this season ( I think ). Rather impressed we got this lad at all, well done Steve Eyre.

Like you I am impressed that we have got him, but clubs usually let players go on loan to get more experience but as you say 3 in 3 hardly fits into this.On this basis I fail to understand why they would not sell him subject to a reasonable offer - I believe that ALF went to Reading for about £350k so I am sure we could have got Ball for less than that.....

Maybe he wasn't for sale.

Three Man U players going to Peterborough might have something to do with it.
