Fake news, just like his mate the Trumpster. |

That’s decent value compared to Bristol where it’s a minimum of £6 for 10 mins. There should be a free of charge window to allow for people to be picked up, it should be part of their licensing conditions. After say 5 or 6 mins, a charge would be fair game. |

My neighbour has a hybrid Toyota Aygo, it’s a small little thing which he reckons is giving him 63mpg. He loves it. |

We had the chance to vote on the introduction of an alternative system a few years ago and rejected its. FPTP has favoured the Conservatives, the recent boundary changes also favour the Conservatives as does the introduction of voter ID, so I suspect they may not do well tomorrow but they aren’t going to get the kicking everyone thinks they will. I think we definitely need to review FPTP, but it will probably consign us to years of coalition governments whereby parties work together to govern the country.. There are definitely positives, but equally we could be beholden to a group like the DUP a la Theresa May. Being totally cynical, someone like Starmer could hold on to power and if there were signs Labour were losing power due to unpopularity, they could introduce PR and hold on longer working in coalition. 😳 |

He may well be finished off once and for all during the next parliament if Labour win. I’d imagine there’ll be a shout for a couple of investigations, Lebedev, maybe some of the other stuff that hasn’t quite been bottomed out could also resurface. Without allies in No 10 he could experience a bit of grief. |

This is an interesting one. When I saw the initial article I was raging at the thought of the WG trying to stop the legislation, but having read in to it it’s not so clear cut and I can appreciate aspects of both sides arguments. Firstly, politicians should never be able to lie and get away with it, never ever ever and they should be completely accountable. The legislation seeks to make it a criminal offence which is something I’m not so sure about. It appears that the police and the CPS haven’t been consulted on this law, which is not acceptable nor iris it acceptable when the WG tries to deviate from “English” law which is the juridical system in England and Wales and is the responsibility of the Parliament in Westminster. I think there’s potentially another way, a super beefed up code of conduct which holds all politicians to account. The law proposed to Cardiff Bay wouldn’t apply to MP’s - we need something that applies to all the lying @@@@@@‘s whatever party they’re in and whatever body they serve on. I don’t believe this is something our already overworked police should have to regulate and oversee, but there does need to be more accountability. The Standards Commissioner is on record as being against this legislation, maybe it’s because he doesn’t want to lose some of his work streams but maybe he can see it’s not the best piece of legislation to be introduced. |

On the subject of food banks, don’t know if you’ve ever been to one but the packs they give out to service users follow guidance provided by expert dieticians, the packs are balanced with carbs, protein etc etc. The only thing food banks struggle with is fresh stuff. When I was a youngster, we didn’t have the number or the size of the large people we have today. |

There’s a huge issue with obesity in the U.K. and health outcomes in Wales aren’t great, in some areas they’re amongst the worst in the U.K. I listened to a dietician talk about this today and the impact obesity was having on the NHS so 8 can see some of the arguments, but equally people need to take a degree of ownership and responsibility. The Conservatives were looking to do something similar and tighten up on labelling etc but it got kicked in to the long grass a while ago, so it’s not just a WG. My personal view is that the WG should butt out, but there needs to be some kind of educational programme where kids are taught about nutrition etc in schools. |

I 100% agree with you that Nigel Farage should be shown the same courtesy, dignity and respect as the leaders of the other political parties including the SNP, Plaid Cymru, DUP, Green Party and even Sinn Fein. I disagree with you in terms of the BBC being left wing, it’s been politicised by this government and previous incarnations of this government and political appointments such as Richard Sharp, Robbie Gibb have moved it from the middle ground towards the right. |

I can remember coming home from work and staying up all night watching the election results, it was a breath of fresh air and there was a lot of optimism. John Major wasn’t a very popular leader, he was portrayed as grey and boring, but he had a much better moral compass and was more competent than many and most of his predecessors. Had it not been for the fact we’d endured 18 years of Conservative rule and people had had a guts full at any other election he may have got back in. In some ways I think we’re back in 1997, people have had a guts full of the Conservatives. The arguing, bickering, sniping etc and then there’s Boris - he’s revered by Tory Party members but generally despised and disliked by almost everyone else on account of the parties, the lies etc. Truss is also disliked and seen as being responsible for overseeing an shambolic budget and reign. Sunak in many ways is more competent and knowledgable than his predecessors, but he’s surrounded himself with people of questionable judgement and is perceived as stabbing Boris in the back by the national press when in reality Boris was caught out lying over a serious matter. I think (and hope) the road has run out for this collection of charlatans we have in government. [Post edited 29 Jun 17:28]

20mph is safer than 30mph, but what’s happened with the eduction in speed limits is completely disproportionate. If this guy is the top legal officer, then he needs to consider his position. Never ceases to amaze me what people will post on line. |

I agree with much of what you’ve written. Some civil service stuff can’t be done remotely, but a lot can. In terms of policing, it wasn’t so much about the buildings, but the staffing, the politicians moving around, personal protection etc. The Met is the only Force in the U.K. capable of handling the scale of commitment required to look after the politicians, diplomatic stuff etc. |
