I didn't say Stokes was one of the best, i said he was a legend. Because he scored the goal that one us our one and only trophy (and no i don't count the JPT, play offs or Southern league trophies). There's a universe difference between Stokes winning us the FA Cup and Armstrong winning the 3rd play in the second division trophy |

I have a fairly strict opinion on this, A legend is a player or person who's had a significant and sizeable impact on the history of southampton football club, so Ted Bates, Lawrie, Mick Channon, Matt Le Tiss, Bobby Stokes, Ron Davies. By the nature of the word - legend - there should be very, very few. Then you have cult hero, there's loads more of these, they're the Franny types or Holmes and Lambert. Some of them are good players some of them have just done a lot for the club or city, but they didn't really have a monumental impact on the history of the club. |

Not the worst list i've ever seen, i'd probably have Mark Wright in there somewhere though as he's the best center back i've ever seen play for us. Controversially i'd also argue Shearer shouldn't be there, he wasn't with us that long in reality, in fact it feels like he's in there for what he did after he left rather than at the time. I'd personally have Holmes or Danny Wallace in there ahead of Shearer. My list would be, 1. Matt Le Tissier 2. Mick Channon 3. Terry Paine 4. Ron Davies 5. Alan Ball 6. Mark Wright 7. Rickie Lambert 8. Virgil Van Dijk 9. Danny Wallace 10. Kevin Keegan [Post edited 5 Feb 11:25]

1. The bus replacement was surprisingly efficient and barely added any time to the journey 2. Has to be one of the best aways for pubs/locations, we drank in a couple of absolutely lovely old fashioned pubs not far from the marina and a small brewery that would be great in the summer months 3. Why do our fans sing about going to the championship as if it's something to proud of? Absolutely no pride in our city and celebrating failure, i find it really strange and embarrassing 4. Portman Road is cracking ground, a proper football ground and it's shame there's not more like it left in the country 5. We got very lucky to win, really didn't think we deserved it but for some reason had a feeling even after they equalised we were going to sh*thouse a win. Definitely as a game had the feel of two championship sides. |

One of my favourite things is seeing the dads and lads going to the game together, no bullsh*t, no hype, just generations following in the footsteps of those before. Same thing with the pubs pre-games where you have 2/3+ generations of families in the same place, that's the community side of the game i love and the bit i lament the most because it's dying out. |

Yeah that's fair to an extent, though i'd say the football side has changed so dramatically in the last 10years as to make it almost unrecognisable. When i started going in the early 80's up to even the mid 00's it wasn't THAT different. Yeah money had come into the game and there was some new grounds (and the taylor report had killed the terraces), but mostly it was pretty similar to what it had been and the leagues were relatively competitive even without huge amounts of cash. Now however it's more like WWE or a soap opera than football, the coverage is through the roof and everyone and their dog wants to be a social media star. Plus to compete at the top level you need the money of a small nation, and if you don't and somehow build something it'll be ripped out under you at the first sniff of a big team. |

the gulags are everything i hate about modern football, mindless drones in replica shirts drinking sh*t beer out of plastic glasses, engaging in cringeworthy "BANTZ" and not questioning anything about the fact the club and game are rinsing them dry and only see them as wallets to be drained. |

yup i'm the same, it's like an abusive relationship really. There's close to nothing left of what i loved when i started, and the bits i hate are held up as being great, or are thrown back at me by the exact people i don't want to engage with as how they're right, but yet i can't walk away from it. Part of that is stubbornness, if i give up the geeks and plastics win, part of that is because Southampton FC mean far more to me than a game of football, Plus of course the old maxim is true that you should never let the football get in the way of a day out at the football, and the fact it's my chance to see family and friends and have a laugh plays a huge part in why i still go |

I'm not losing in interest in Saints, i'm jaded and depressed by them but it's still my home city and i'll never lose that pride for it. I am losing interest in football in general though, the whole f*cking thing is rigged, terrace culture and atmosphere's are dead or dying everywhere and the new generation of social media influencers make me wish Putin nuked us now. |
