It would appear that our friends from the other side of Heywood don't know the difference between a plight and a pledge.
One of the big news items on their website today starts as follows;--
Chairman with another stunning offer for fans…
The chairman’s plight to reduce the cost of football took another step today with the announcement of more savings for Bury supporters ahead of the new season.
It;s now 10 games into the season and that seems to be the figure quoted by many before which one shouldn't make judgements about the overall chances and performances of the manager and the squad. Well seeing as we have now reached the 10 mark for what it's worth here's my thoughts.
For a squad which bears little or no resemblance to last years I think they have done well to achieve 8th place so far. There are still areas which require a deal of work and effort but overall they have gelled remarkably well considering the short time they have been together. The most pleasing thing from my point of view is the "fight" they have shown when circumstances were against them. Coming back to win at Rotherham when they were behind and playing with 10 men for 60 minutes last night are 2 prime examples. Last year we would have just folded. Yes there is still much to be done to achieve the finished article but they have achieved much in a short space of time and the overall signs are promising.
As for John Coleman I think at this stage of the club's re-building and development he is just what we need. His teams may not produce (yet!) the quality flowing football seen under Hillcroft but hey -look what has happened in the last 12 months at RAFC. To have put together a team (virtually from scratch) which is now knocking at the door of the playoffs is an admiral achievement. In the time he has been here he has certainly steadied the ship and rather than looking over our shoulders at the foot of the table I am confident we will be pressing at the top end this year.
When is he going to learn that petulant flashes of anger are going to get him into trouble? I thought he was a lucky lad to stay on the pitch today after (rightly) getting booked for booting the ball away after he did not get the foul he thought should have been awarded.
From the wmg it seemed that the ref called him back after giving him the yellow and from the way he called Jonah over and spoke with both of them it was presumably for something he then said. If that was the case then he was very very lucky not to have got a second yellow only a few seconds after receiving the first.
If only he would concentrate on his own game instead of criticising and shouting at his team mates when they don't do exactly what he wanted them to then he could be a good player at this level but he has to learn to play within a team.
Can anyone please enlighten me? I was trying to remember when was the last time we appointed a manager who was actually managing a club rather than being out of work or working in a role other than overall manager?
Holden signed a two-year contract with Shrewsbury Town on 26 June 2009. On 5 August 2010 Holden signed on loan at Rotherham United,[5] initially for only one month but this was extended twice until he was recalled early by Shrewsbury on 20 October.[6] On 31 January 2011, Holden had his contract cancelled by mutual agreement[7] and he became a free agent. Chesterfield FC signed him on 3 February 2011 in a short term contract that will expire at the current season's end.[8] When signing for Rochdale AFC,he cited he was dreading another ridiculous song being made up, by the madman Rkershaw.
Whoever wrote that last sentence----absolutely spot on!!!!!!
A mate of mine who is a bit of a luddite and doesn't use th'internet lost two sets of keys on Saturday somewhere at the Bournemouth match ( one set was the hotel keys and one was personal keys) If anyone saw or found any could they please let me know. Many thanks.
I'm off to Prague for a few days. For those daleys who have been over there can you give me a bit of help please? There seems to be a wide acceptance of a variety of currency. Czeck, Euros, Stirling etc Is any one currency used more than the rest in tourist areas. Thanks in anticipation of your help. UTD
Today we have made our first signing under our new manager. That in itself is a fantastic milestone in the next phase of the history of the club. One look at the postings today fills me with dismay.Compare the postings and discussion about Ashley Grimes compared with the total number of postings about players leaving and Hilly "shafting" the club.
Surely we have done the "good guy " "bad guy" thing to death. Whatever Keith Hill has or hasn't done we cant change it or make any difference. The past is the past and it really is time to stop squabbling and move on.
The official site has a preview of Saturday's match which includes the suggested lineup. Nowhere is there a mention of our new number 9. Does this mean that his international clearance STILL hasn't been sorted or does anyone know any different?
Our official website gives a kick off time as 7.30 p.m. The Fleetwood official website gives the kick off time as 7.45 p.m. Does anyone know the definitive answer please?
