Walker-Peters - off to Galatasaray??
at 14:39 26 Jan 2025

He did a bit of a lap around the pitch yesterday on his own after the game. Rumour has it that Everton have come in for him at about 5 million. We get 5 million now or nothing in the summer. This would make sense for all involved, so I could see this happening.

The point of keeping the manager is that it costs millions to keep sacking them. Was it worth the 10 million it cost to sack Martin, to continue losing and be relegated anyway? You can't just keep sacking managers, onto the next, it costs money!

If the club is a sh!tshow as you rightly say and the squad is not PL standard as you rightly say, do you not think every manager is being set up to fail? Why don't you want the "idiots" as you put it, out? Why just the manager? If we didn't have idiots at the very top, we wouldn't keep having to sack managers as they would make the right appointment, get the recruitment right and put PL players on the pitch? Is that not logical?

I'm not sure he would be the right manager to bring us back up next season in the championship, and I expect he will go in the summer, especially if we keep losing, which we will, because we are far inferior to the opposition every week. But what will this board and ownership do? They will appoint another Russel Martin won't they, from a mid table club in the championship or some up.and coming coach from league one.

But the point remains, it doesn't matter who manages us with this team. They just arnt good enough. We won't ever win games, if we struggle to score and make mistakes every match against world class players. You get punished and then have no chance.

So change again? We still only have 2 goals a season Armstrong up front, whether you change the manager or not.

Selles and Ralph were also described in similar terms. But they arnt all.over the place at other clubs, just at Saints. Do you not question that just possibly the problems are higher up?

Every manager is all over the place at Saints. The club is toxic. Each manager desperately scrambles to find an impossible winning formula and then starts doing stupid things in panic and desperation. Just for comparison, Selles did a fantastic job at Reading and was appointed at Hull. He is again doing a fantastic job there having won at top of the league Sheffield United last night 3 nil and is on his way to saving them. Hassenhutle is 7th in the German league with Wolfsburg, a club who regularly fight relegation. Juric was appointed by Roma, one of the biggest clubs in the world because he has been successful at other clubs. I don't know how many times we can keep blaming managers, who only seem to be exceptionally bad here, and then expecting the same people at the very top, who are making this club toxic, to turn things around, with yet another appointment that doesn't work.

This happens every year we are in the prem. We had none of this in the championship. The fans of these big clubs are just arrogant horrible tw@ts who rub it in your face, totally taking the p!ss. As if we don't know we're sh!t.

But Saints owners love their money.

There were a fair few in the Northam too, but they were thrown out. The Saints fans in there made a huge fuss, but there were a significant number in the Chapel. The fans in the Chapel just stood there smiling. And the stewards too. They are so stupid, it looked like they didn't even notice all the black and white shirts celebrating at the front of the Chapel.

The number of Newcastle shirts I see walking through Southampton, Eastleigh, Winchester just generally now, is pathetic. These idiots use our ground, because we are so close to where they live to watch "their" team from 300 miles away. Look at me, I support a great team and I live in Shirley. It's infuriating.

Things couldn't get any worse than Martin. It was his style of play that caused all our defeats.

Just to top off the day, significant groups of Newcastle fans all made their way over to the away end in the Chapel. Must have been 100 of them at the front in Newcastle shirts and waving their scarves. The stewards and our soft fans in the Chapel did absolutely nothing. Another embarrassment the away end laughing at 100s of their own in the home end. There's no way they would have done that in the Northam. The Chapel is a third full of away fans, most games in the PL.

Exactly right. When Ralph got sacked, Adam Armstrong was our main striker. We got relegated. 3 years later, we have the same Adam Armstrong leading our attack. Now ask yourselves why we can't score many goals. It's not the manager!

The team fought hard today I thought, as they did at Man U and Forest in the 2nd half. But it's hopeless isn't it, if Bednerak or whoever c@cks up and makes two mistakes. It's hopeless if we get a chance and blaze it over the bar. They have a world class player izaak who doesn't miss. It's then game over. Most teams we play have match winners and we don't. Our defense is atrocious and theirs isn't. It really won't make any difference which guy is standing on the touchline.

The answer is never until we can match the quality of players we are playing.

Ha. Exactly my point before we sacked Ralph, Jones, Martin etc. Nothing EVER changes. It just keeps getting worse every time we sack a manager. Because the problem is not the manager. So who do we want next?
