All new homes in Wales have to have solar panels.

Solar farms make use of low quality, south facing agricultural land. Usually sheep farms that carry on producing lamb as they graze amongst the panels.

Nothing really to see here, usual Telegraph BS.

Sort of, I think a lot of that is politicial BS from Johnson too.

The original route was chosen by Carwyn Jones because it was cheaper as it was mainly on land owned by WG. Unfotunately it was very environmentally sensitive and there were far better and more viable potential routes.

After that environmental legislation brought in by Drakeford bascially made the proposed route illegal to develop.

I guess this will take a long time to get permission unless environment legislation, largely from the EU, is changed. At the moment it's illegal to build it

Similar legislation to that which stopped the Brynglas tunnel upgrade being affordable.

I noticed the M4 relief road wasn't included by Reeves yesterday. To my mind that's as important as any other infrastructure upgrade announced yesterday.

Will the university funding crisis mean a fall in nursing training numbers?
at 06:53 30 Jan 2025

Like it or not Universities are businesses now, the biggest private employers in many towns, including Swansea. Universities won't cut courses that make money and nursing isn't one of them

They're dependent on attracting foreign students who contribute vastly more funds than British students. Nurses can become nurses in their own country, they don't need to spend a fortune to study in the UK.

The last government made that considerably more difficult and this is the result. It will continue.

I've read the book and think about the "inner chimp" a lot. But I can't control it. I don't know if anyone really can.

I try to practice stoicism but that's bloody hard too.

The author is also using the murder of three innocent girls to further their anti immigration agenda.

This wasn't terrorism any more so than jack the ripper or Harald Shipman. Rudakabana was a unhinged nutcase who should have been stopped, why he wasn't is the question that needs to be asked, conflating this situation with immigration and rape gangs isn't going to stop this happening again.

There are more similarities between Rudakabana and Jonny Bravery than Salman Abedi. That's what needs to be looked at.

Interesting article from 14 years ago:-

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2011/jun/12/phone-hacking-rupert-murdo

How prophetic is the last sentence?

"Don't let vested interests tell you this story doesn't matter: it does – to all of us, because on this issue rests the future health of politics, journalism and our society."

Not really but I have several Muslim friends and amazingly none of them have ever raped anyone.

What do they prey for at a mosque? Ask a Muslim, find out.

I can tell you for certain it's not to be able to rape children.

Oh you're a racist no doubt about it.

The crazy thing is I don't think you know the first thing about immigration or immigrants.

Don't you think somebody saying child rape is being encouraged by Imman's in mosques and child rape being a Muslim practice is racist / islamophobic?

I don't think that's where we differ.

The concerns around various community sensitivities must not happen. Any perpetrator of child abuse must be brought to account, but I'd suggest it's an incredibly difficult thing to prove and there's an element of reluctance in offending people in all cases whether they are catholic priests, teachers or Pakistani Muslims.

The call for an inquiry is based in racism. Let's be honest it was jumped on by Elon Musk the racist Reform and "Tommy Robinson" billionaire and subsequently by Kemi Badenoch and then went viral. Despite her political party refusing exactly the same thing just months previously and doing nothing to implement recommendations of previous inquiries. It happened to try and gain right wing votes. We've subsequently seen child rape be referred to as a Muslim practice in this thread.

Despite it occurring in localised areas with considerably fewer victims than other forms of abuse. I don't think a full inquiry would give much bang for the buck.

Then we had Darren Millar inflaming / inciting the situation. It's different. He abused the rules of FMQ's knowing exactly the reaction he'd get from the right wing social media goons. He knew what he was doing. It was disgusting behaviour deliberately designed to attract reform voters and get social media likes. Another dog whistle.

People don't understand how he should have behaved so jump on the "censoring" bandwagon. He wasn't censored, he was called to the order he should have respected.

But to ask a question you don't need to be overly prescreptive and unless the victim knew Darren Miller was going to ask that particular question and state what had hapened to her he was being disrespectful and disclosing personal information.

That's what he was being pulled up on.

It could have inflamed / incited discrimination - we have seen it in this thread. The Tories would be well advised to let this go as they have no moral high ground to take, but that isn't what they are trying to do. They are trying to take votes from Reform by using abused children.

Ultimately this wasn't a debate, it wasn't a motion raised by an Assembly Member. It was a deliberately misused slot at FMQ's. It's possible Darren Millar knew what would happen and he knew the rules. He knew he'd be stopped by going on this rant and that is possibly exactly the hornets nest he wanted to kick.

This entire episode is shameful to British politics.

I think there a couple of issues here. It was first minister questions, and Darren Millar took a long time (150 secs and several prompts) to get around to asking his question. His "speech" broke the principle FMQ rule of being brief, clearly worded and specific. It's also arguable that he used offensive language, expresseed a point of view and disclosed personal information.

However when challenged he said "he was stating facts" to which the Llwydd replied "no you're not".

I don't think that was the best reply from her.

However, he wasn't being censored, just being asked to abide by the rules.
