2,607 the official number of tickets sold. 3pm deadline done now so that's that.
Not a patch on last year, but given the fact it's all-ticket and we've only won 2 in 24 games, it's still a decent effort.

We've won 1 game in the last 23. Anything over 2000+ would be decent in fairness, though disappointing when compared to last season. |

Hunch - though I have seen plenty of things which suggest their owner is putting all his eggs in one basket with regards promotion this season.
Pope, Clarke & Eagles will all be on 2k+, 3k+ & 4k+ respectively - no club the size of Bury, with the gates they get, can afford that. And that's without mentioning countless others. |

We certainly wont be bringing close to 3,200 this time around - though I am pissed off about the allocated seating. All ticket after last year's happening I can understand, but allocated seating is plain overkill.
As for the game, well, I think you can rest assured it wont be another 3-0 loss for you lot. We've improved lately, albeit slightly (and ignoring the Scunthorpe shambles!!!) but it's still pretty dire.
As for the team - I'd guess Dunn will revert back to 4-4-2 even though the first half against Sheff United at the weekend as a 4-3-3 was the best we've played since the Bury game....

Morning all,
Not feeling confident for this. We're a shadow of the team from earlier in the season, and the injury list and international call ups isn't going to help for tomorrow either.
I'd take a draw now to be perfectly honest.
Aside from tomorrow's game, I actually hope you can make the playoffs. Got no problem with you and would much rather see a club like Rochdale in the playoffs than the overated shite that is Sheff United et al. |

I reckon you're right there.
Thankfully our home record is pretty good this year so hopefully it's another 3pts.
Get MK Dons out of the way in a fortnight and we'll have played the entire top half away from home (bar Fleetwood).
A long way to go but the signs are promising at the moment!

Yeah, please ignore this complete thundert**t OP.
99% of us aren't happy about the off-pitch antics last Saturday, believe me. Every fanbase has their element of nob heads and we're no different.
By the same tone - don't tarnish us all with the same brush, yeah? The majority of you have said on many a time in the lead up to this game, and post match, that you don't really care about us - that's fair enough - but to then have 50% of your forum dedicated to threads about us and slagging us all at every opportunity suggests otherwise.
Hoepfully the clowns who caused this aren't back at games in a hurry, other than that lets just move on and look forward to the rest of L1. |

Tom Youngs has been brought in as cover. Add's some pace and likes to play off the left, so should Forte get injured he can possibly help out. He wont displace Forte, Ibehre, Philliskirk & Poleon just yet.
Kenny in to push Rachubka I'd like to think, as he's been a little shaky recently and Etheridge wasn't any kop and I think wanted to go back south. I'm hoping he's shed some timber though - could be a good signing *if* he has..... |

We just lack that ruthlessness - if you look at our GD and yours there's a glaring difference. There's no doubt whatsoever on the balance of play and number of chances we've created we've deserved much more points than we currently have, and had we been more clinical (despite Forte notching 12 goals already) we'd be top 3 at the moment, IMO.
We also have a couple of players who would get in pretty much any team in this league. James Wilson and Daniel Johnson. Johnson's on loan from Villa after a successful stint at Chesterfield, and has made 2 appearances so far for us - he scored a beauty on his debut and set up Forte at Bramall Lane with a worldie of a through ball. I really want him past January!
Big G is not match fit yet, so he wont quite make it. Only RB is the questionable choice - Brian Wilson or Genseric Kusunga. If you have a pacey winger, I'd imagine Kusunga may keep his place. Probable lineup:

It would be good if flares (not of the trouser variety) were allowed, partly because some humour could be invented and partly because we have an Ernie Cooksey one that goes everywhere including England away days.
The away end for me. Should be absolutely bouncin'. Just hope there's no trouble in the pubs in the build up, or in the home ends. |

I've not said it's solely down to having a shite stand. It is, however, one of the factors, whether you like it or not.
Rochdale is an away day - one which we haven't experienced over the last 20 years, one which is just around the corner, and where both teams are playing well. That's why our following will be as good as it is, and it doesn't add to the argument that our home support is shite as we already know that.
But I can sit here and tell you Rochdale mean as much to the majority of us as what Walsall do, whether you agree or not.

Believe me, it's not.
Back when we were decent, and the ground wasn't as dated as it is now, the admission prices were lower and the football was good to watch. They are two key factors in what help convince someone to turn up and watch their team. Not every single supporter of any club is incredibly loyal to the point where they'd watch them play in Syria with a bomb strapped under their seat which will go off if they concede.
I am by no means defending our significant drop in numbers since the PL days as purely financial etc - there will be plenty of "hanger-ons", and we've said as much on our own forum numerous times. We, ourselves, find it frustrating when we take 6k to Everton in the FA Cup, win, and then only 3.5k turn up at BP the weekend after.
However, since the PL days, where we've had our best players bought for a pittance as we are, and have been as long as I remember, a selling club, dropped down the leagues seeing our financial situation tumble, staff turn over continue at an alarming rate, see shite manager after shite manager (Talbot, Penney, Dickov) make us play excrutiatingly shite football, be squeezed onto a seat which could only fit one of Olive Oil's arsecheeks on, whilst paying more and more for a ticket, it's fully understandable why numbers have dropped.
I know plenty of Latics' fans who don't bother going to BP yet travel to nearly all the away days. Over the course of a season they'll see us more than me, so I can't add a disservice to their affections and loyalty to their team. They simply hate the BP match day experience (although it's very gradually improving as the team have begun to play much more attractive stuff.
It will take an awful long time for our fanbase to even get near those levels of the late 80's, early 90's - and it may never will, but the fact that BP is far from attractive does play a part - it just isn't the whole reason.
You've also got to consider now that any young kids growing up now have another club they can go support in the PL (City), as well as United, so it's very difficult to attract new fans. I'm sure you can relate to that, too.
Also.....
Wycombe - Don't exactly have a powerhouse club, let alone 2, on their doorstep.
Tranmere - Bar Liverpool & Everton, there's noone around them. There's a shit load more NW teams closer to Latics, other than City & United, than what Tranmere have to deal with.
Shrewsbury - Similar to Wycombe, also have a new stadium.
Grimsby - Similar to Wycombe & Shrewsbury
I agree, looking purely at league placings, you'd expect Latics to have better home crowds, but there's a lot more factors to consider.
Finally - we are excited to see the game, just as much as we'd be excited to see us against Sheff United right through to Walsall. Fortunately you're bus ride away so more people see their money's worth in travelling. |

First off - well done on your result yesterday. Best outcome from Latics' point of view, but shame you couldn't hold on for the win?
Now for Saturday....
I wouldn’t look too much into the fact we’re taking 3,500+ as any indication we view you as a massive rival — the majority of us just like the whole “away-day” novelty, even if this does happen to be less than 10 miles away from BP.
To me and those I’m going with it’s just a day out on the lash from breakfast time, a game between two sides playing well at a ground not too far away. I think the problem we have at BP is that it’s simply not a good match-day experience (football-aside). The two home stands need redeveloping as they’re dated, wooden, decrepid messes, and the best stand we have at the moment is the away stand! When the new stand is finally completed, and providing we’re still playing attractive football at the right end of the table, I believe the home attendances will slowly rise.
Given we’ve taken over 1,000 away supporters to a few games already this season, it’s no surprise to me that it’s sold out. Whether we’d have taken the 3,200 up so quickly had either of us been in the bottom 4 I’m not sure, but I doubt it.
There’s a thread on OWTB about how this is an odd derby in the sense that there’s no real feeling towards each other. The odd person sees this is as a big game, and sees you as a rival, and I suppose there is nothing wrong with that at all — after all we’re in the same league, on the same points, and around 10 miles apart, but the fact we’ve rarely played each other over the years is a big factor in why there’s a majority sense of irrelevance between us.
As for potential trouble, I do hope not, but I’m amazed you’ve made it pay on the day. Is there a big reason why we couldn’t just be given the whole stand once the 3,200 had been snapped up so soon, as to me is was obvious from that point that you’d have Latics fans in the home ends.
I can honestly say, and I speak for friends and others here, that I’m pleased you’re up here doing so well. Whilst I obviously wouldn’t want it to be detrimental to our success, it’d be chuffed for you if you managed to make the play offs (or even better) this season. I have no issue with Rochdale whatsoever and if we don’t go up, then good luck to you.
Anyway, It should be a good game on Saturday. You rarely draw, we rarely lose, so I’m hoping that mean’s we’ll win ïŠ
