I don't know why I am asking this but...long? And Buckley... Left back? Or are you playing 3 at the back there? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

We didn't play Dawson out of position when we went up, and Holness barely featured that season.

Rochdale AFC were formed in 2004 it would appear. Any Dale team without Lyndon Symmonds in it is a team not worth the time spent dreaming up.

Best player to don the shirt on 22:26 - Dec 3 with 909 views | Clivert | I would have said Dawson up until the other week when I watched the DVD from our first season in League One and Chris O'Grady stood out as unplayable at times. 20+goals in a promotion winning season coupled with the winning goal in the game that secured promotion so COG gets my vote.
Best player to don the shirt on 00:32 - Dec 4 with 855 views | Bobbyjoe | Obviously Reg, who is the personification of the club. But McCourt was unique, and even the youngest fan will not live long enough to ever see his like again in a Dale shirt.

I'm sorry but can nobody see what is happening now? I have no doubt tazzy is a major mong, however it seems to me now that he is purposely posting ridiculous comments attempting to bait people into a response and hijack another thread, I for one am shocked, didn't think tazzy had enough brain cells for such an elaborate plan. The fact he has suggested playing Holness in our best ever 11 is a mockery on its own, before even mentioning the fact he wants to play our best ever centre half at right back (even though he never did) and play one of the most attack minded and naturally gifted wingers at left back. Lawlllll.

You haven't been watching Dale very long if that's your best squad. Although to be fair to you, we have been blessed with an abundance talent in the latter half of the 2000s. It is difficult to define THE best player I've seen in a Dale shirt. What do you base it on? Skill? Length of service? Effort on the pitch? In the early days I would have said Steve Whitehall, Alan Reeves, Mark Stuart, Alex Russell or Jason Peake. Since then, we’ve had the likes of Neil Edwards, Clive Platt, Paul Connor, Paddy and Simmo. Then Lambert and Holt. Latterly, Murray, Dagnall, ALF, Buckly, Dawson, COG. It’s too fookin hard to pick one of them over the others.

"it seems to me now that he is purposely posting ridiculous comments attempting to bait people into a response and hijack another thread" This has been the case for a considerable time. I have narrowed it down to 3 options. 1. Wind up merchant 2. Narcotics 3. Malaria
Best player to don the shirt on 12:10 - Dec 4 with 763 views | olympicdale | We've had some crackers in the past 6 years, but I'd have to vote for Will Buckley, I used to love watching him play, I too used to think, "pass it to Buckley" I always remember the Aldershot manager, after the game coming out and saying they could have had "2 men marking Buckley and we still wouldn't have been able to catch him".

Best player to don the shirt on 12:47 - Dec 4 with 756 views | pioneer | Reg Jenkins without a doubt - high standards over a long period of time, most of the time in a crap team - and maintained those standards after we finally moved up the league.

I know still only young we've been with the good times and not the bad times what are always talked about but i think the glory days ended when we entered league one that alone we lost I'd say 1k in fans i'm just happy were almost safe in League Two and not done a Rushden, Stockport or a Darlington

why is it Buckley doesn't seem to inspire the same level of praise that Paddy did? I reckon at a similar age, Buckley contributed more in terms of appearances, goals, assists and influences on matches. That's not knocking Paddy, but I'd have said that Buckley was certainly the better player for Dale.
